I am a huge fan of Janji running gear and was excited to give this jacket a try. It did not disappoint. Layers are key for tackling the elements in Minnesota and this jacket provides a good amount of warmth without a lot of bulk. I paired it with a mid weight top on a 24 degree run today and was quite comfortable. The design allows for optimal venting of high heat zones (under arms, sides, lower back) but insulated in key areas. It will definitely be a staple in my running wardrobe as the temps continue to fall. Ordered my usual size of a medium and that gives me enough room to layer underneath and not feel restricted in my movement.
I am not super athletic, always cold and actually bought this jacket for travel without having to bring a bulky jacket. It packs great since it so lightweight and compact all while keeping me warm. Turns out it is a great theme park jacket since it has three zipper pockets for storing items during rides. I did notice white lint type pieces that I thought something got on the jacket and tried to pick them off. It was actually the insulation coming through the jacket from rubbing and sitting against it nonstop. Don't pick it out as this will pull all the insulation out over time. I noticed if you lightly lift up on the outer material of the jacket, the insulation will tuck back inside. A small irritation for the price but I would definitely recommend.
This replaces my bulky puffy coat. I'm in the south so it's too much for running, but it's perfect for post run in colder temps and for everyday wearing in mild winter temps. Packs down nicely for camping/bikecamping! Double zipper makes it great for cold cycling also.
