I commute to work by ferry and walking. When it's really cold and rainy, wearing warm layers with a waterproof shell over the top can feel really cumbersome, so this parka has been a great solution for me. Just one parka over my work clothes to keep me warm and dry. The hood is big with a moldable brim and can be cinched down to really block out rain on wet days. I appreciate the two way zipper so I can open up the bottom for more movement as needed. The zip pockets including one hidden inside the chest offer great options for storage.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was in need of a layer to throw on while belaying during ice climbing trips this winter. This parka did not disappoint. Worn in just-below-freezing temperatures, it kept me warm throughout long days outside. It consistently fit comfortably over all of my layers, which was especially important while trying to stay warm between climbing and belaying. I was impressed by how lightweight it felt compared to other parkas I've used, while still providing comparable warmth.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This OR jacket has been great for winter. I can wear it with just a tshirt down to 30 degree weather, or with a heavier top in temperatures down to the teens and stay comfortable. The pockets are generously sized and the hood stays secure. Even though it's thigh length, it's cut in a way that gets over my booty without looking weird. The two way zipper is also a nice touch. I usually wear a small or medium, depending on the brand, but I find the medium allows for layering and gets over my hips comfortably. I'm 5'2, so the sleeves of the medium are a little long, but not to the point I need to try to roll them up. The weather resistance is good, and has kept me dry in snow and light rain. I've really enjoyed this coat when walking around town or commuting. It also isn't very technical looking so it makes a nice “going out“ winter coat.
