[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is ruined and it didn't even get worn outside of trying it on once. I noticed a little dark spot on the jacket and assumed it was probably just a spot from being handled in a warehouse. I tried to gently wipe it off with water and the fabric started rubbing off in the area where the spot was and it began pilling. Upon closer inspection, the spot was actually an area with much thinner, transparent fabric that will inevitably become a hole. I don't want to deal with the hassle of returning and ordering again hoping for better quality. It is such a cute jacket, I am pretty disappointed in the fabric though.
I stopped a girl who was wearing this coat because I liked the style and olive color. She was very happy with it so I ordered one. The material has a nice feel and seems to be constructed well. Pleasantly surprised to find pockets on the inside. Glad I got the one with the hood. This coat could be thicker for our northern MI winters. I'll just have to wait for next winter to see. The only thing I struggle with is that on the inside the vertical strips of "pillow" cubes are sewn to the outside layer of the coat. There is only one solid thin layer of material which is the outer shell. I would feel better if the pillow/cube layer was sewn in between outer and inner layers of material for greater warmth. The first time I tried on the coat, my fingers got caught between the pillows. This coat is something new for me but I'm willing to try it out. To be continued...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So for a pricey jacket like this there should be an external chest pocket and a drawstring hood at the very least. There should also be an internal zipper pocket for this price. I usually wear a medium but I'm glad I went a size up to a large. I ordered the green, which looks WAY more yellow in the picture, but it is definitely more along the lines of army olive drab. I like the fit and that it has a hood but definitely should have a drawstring hood. I'm on the fence about keeping it. I don't think the value is there for the money and there are probably better options for the money. I'll be investigating before I decide to keep.
I just returned from a 12-day trip to Europe in March 2025. It was between 40 to 60 degrees, rainy, windy, and cloudy. I wore this for 12 hours a day. I wore a thin Merino wool sweater and this jacket, which was warm and comfortable the whole time. When it rained or was windy, I put up my hood. The sleeves were long enough that, without gloves, I tucked my hand in, made a fist, and stayed warm. It was water- and wind-resistant, so I didn't get wet. It flattens down quickly for storing on the plane or in a suitcase. I always felt like it warmed me up and was so light. The material is very soft. This Marmot is much better than my Patagonia and a North Face jacket, especially having a hood!!
First of all, I think it’s a great looking jacket! Then it comes the fact that I’m never too hot in it. I’ve recently used it ski touring as well and since it was a really cold day, I kept all the way and never overheated. It’s also my go to layer when rock climbing. I wear it in between burns so my body doesn’t get cold and it works wonders. Love all the colors.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the Marot brand. My previous down jacket of 15 years was looking tattered and I needed a replacement. This is even better than that, and even slimmer with equal warmth. I need something for 35 to 45 Fahrenheit. The green color is lovely. (I think it looked more yellow in the photos.)
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was time to replace my decade old Marmot puffy that I had patched three times! I still wore it daily during the cold season, but decided I needed an update! I knew I wanted a hood and an attractive style! This active Novus Hoody in navy has been the perfect upgrade! I love it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect lightweight jacket when you want moderate warmth without the bulk. I wear a 4 or 2 to 4 and ordered the Small. It's perfect because there's room for a sweater or vest underneath, yet it isn't baggy. Definitely the quality I have come to expect from Marmot outerwear
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was looking for a nice warm winter jacket that I could use for outdoor activities and thought this might be the one. Unfortunately it just did not fit right, it was too tight in the chest area and looked it! I am not that big wish it just had a little more room.
[Employee of marmot] Love this jacket, it's toasty warm and not overly puffy. It's good looking too, I like that it has a bit of a silhouette. I don't feel like a marshamallow man when I'm wearing it which a lot of winter puffy jackets do! Haha.
