This sleeping back is awesome for me and I am very claustrophobic and a side sleeper. I hate the mummy style bags so I wants something a little narrower. This bag is it. It is such a bummer that Ust is discontinuing the sleeping bag or going out of business in general. The material inside will keep you warm when you want it and cool when it's hot. The foot pocket is such a nice feature. I love that it is COLORFUL! I am so sick of camping gear being bland and really appreciate Ust's colors. The flaps are little annoying to remove but overall not too bad. Definitely appreciate that this comes with a cotton sack that can be used for long term storage and it easily stuffs in. GET THIS WHILE YOU CAN!
AWESOME. Was trying to find a bag that would live a love and diverse life for my AOL Webelo scout. What this bag can do is incredible and is verified to stand up to overnight in freezing temps. From the handy chest pocket to the incredible wings that become pillows, blankets and padding, I heard this bag was being discontinued so I just bought another one to replace my Sierra Designs Backcountry35, which I hate (it doesn't keep me warm AT ALL). I'm so excited we have two of these bad boys! It also comes with a gentle storage sack so when you're not out camping it doesn't compress and break down.
I bought this about a month ago, this sleeping bag is the best! The wings make a lovely lap blanket when they aren’t attached to the bag or they are great to use in the pillow pocket. The foot zipper is a fantastic feature too. I’ve been sleeping inside with this bag for now for work and the foot zipper helps keep me from getting to hot in the bag. Can’t wait to test it outside this fall and winter, I’m sure it will keep me warm! One thing tho, I am 5’4”, if you are any taller get the regular size, especially if you plan for sleeping bag thermal inserts.
We recently went car camping and the sleeping bag I had rented from another retailer wasn't my favorite. When we popped into town for the day, the REI had this on display and I immediately fell in love with it being a front zipper rather than side. Decided to make the purchase and really glad I did as the temperatures dropped to the coldest they were the whole weekend and those extra wings came in handy. The bag is super light and fluffy, and while I'm primarily a stomach sleeper, it still gives me plenty of room to shift. While I am on my stomach, I don't feel completely restricted like some other sleeping bags. I'm glad I made the jump to buy this, plus the colors are so appealing!
I originally bought the short because it says it’s 74”(which is 6’2”) long. I’m 64”(5’4”) inches so I thought that would be a perfect fit with extra room. When I got in the bag I had little room to move around. I would say it fit me perfectly if I didn’t move a lot when I was sleeping or wasn’t also a side/tummy sleeper too. I measured it because the length it gave me vs how it felt didn’t make sense. I measured it and it measured out at 64”(5’4”) long, roughly. I returned the short for the regular which I think said it was 80”-84” long. If I had guess the measurement numbers got mixed up because the regular didn’t seem as big as the measurements given either. When I got the regular I had plenty of room and could move to my side and tummy with ease. I like the wings to control temperature. The wings also turn into two pillows, which is a bonus. The foot opening is a perk because if I get hot but don’t want to open my bag I can let heat out to cool down my body with ease. I haven’t used it yet outdoors but will be camping in a few weeks and will update with more info.
I am in love with the colors and inventive, modular design. However, the wings don't stay in place if you tend to move around a lot, and I don't recommend using it below 30 degrees. I survived okay in it in the 20s, and then needed a wool blanket inside to handle the low teens and I still struggled (particularly in my foot area). If you are going to use it in the cold like this, you should bring a wool blanket, extra insulation between yourself and the ground, and I recommend putting the wings inside of the bag with you rather than on top. This all being said, I think I unconsciously run laps in my sleep and I usually wake up in strange positions, so if you generally sleep parallel to the ground, then you might be fine. Overall I love this bag- just not what I needed for this specific trip. I will be using it in the exact same place in the exact same temperature this week anyways. Lol. Cool design. PS I am too short for this since I got the regular size, but I am grateful for the wiggle room for my unconscious acrobatics.
From beautiful colors to super soft material, this sleeping bag hits all the key points! The wings help keep you super warm and to adjust the bag as needed for changes in temperatures. Seriously, you're gonna love it!
Bought it as impulse buy on sale from REi. I figuring if it wasn’t right, didn’t fit, I’d return it. It fit, so I took it camping. Too heavy for backpacking, so car camping mostly, 3-season bag. The features do make sense. The foot box and center zipper help in warm weather. The wings make sense too…but never used more than one. I have used the extra wing as a pillow in a stuff sack. Also used the extra wing as a “wrap” getting up in cold weather, since it fully detaches. Agree that it feels a little flimsy but after 6 or 7 camping trips, it has held up very well. Don’t love the colors but very easy to find and ID.
First night of use the bag ripped when putting small pillow in designated pillow holder. for the price of the bag you’d expect better materials and craftsmanship
Loved the idea of the versatility of this bag for my son but it ripped along the seam on its third use as he was climbing into the bag.
