Good trail shoes. Lighter than Salomon's beefed up trail shoes but retains adequate of underfoot and toe protection. I can run rough and rocky trails without issue (190lbs). Fit is the standard narrow salomon fit so wide feet may not be as comfortable as in other brands. Tread wear is okay. I do a mix of road/trail (50/50) and the treads will wear significantly faster on road. (Obviously) Only issue is that the toe box cover peeled away rather quickly. Easy fix, but disappointed glue strength for $130 trail shoe.
I want to start the review by stating I have wide flat feet. Sizing was spot on and felt comfortable straight out of the box. For my feet, the shoes require some breaking in before taking it on a long run as I got blisters on the inner arch but I have that issue with most shoes. These shoes have excellent grip on rocks and sandy slopes. Even on steep slopes I always felt confident with my footing. Very supportive and running over rocks is not an issue despite not having a rock plate. Love the quick lace system. I would recommend these shoes.
This shoe is an AMAZING new addition to the Salomon line of trail-running shoes. I already have a pair of Sense Rides, but I was looking for a pair with a bit more protection, and a bit of a firmer ride. Salomon really makes a shoe for any activity that I need in the mountains. This shoe has fantastic foothold that wraps my foot securely, and offers the kind of lightweight protection that I've been looking for. Similar to my Wings Pro 2 but even lighter than that! Responsiveness is the name of the game with this shoe. Where other trail running shoes can be softer or squishier, this shoe propels me forward and makes running/hiking on the trails safer and more swift. Definitely a buy for anyone looking for a lightweight and responsive ride on the trails and in the mountains!
These are good fitting shoes they just wear out super fast! I am rough on my shoes as I use them for a do it all everyday shoe (working, running, hiking, etc.) but typically I can get a few more months out of Salomon shoes, just not these. And I feel like it’s the way this specific shoe is made as the upper part wore out and tore in the same spot on both shoes. I am a huge fan of Salomon shoes, because of their durability. just not these ones.

I’ve put in about 60 miles so far. I usually size up a half size for Salomon, for me up to 11, I’m more used to the Mission 3 and it’s predecessors- casual/aging jogger but I do decent miles given kids and work (18-25 week). This shoe was a little stiff out of the box but broke in quickly and I now hope holds up. Agree with other best for trail only to avoid wearing out, great grip but also sticks (I don’t need a ton of traction, others may). For me, sizing up actually wasn’t necessary in length, as the toe box is nicely wide, and am considering an insole for the perfect fit. Very good shoe.
Although it takes time to break in a pair of shoes and determine if they're actually good, I've had these shoes for a few weeks and feel zero regret in purchasing (so far). My pair were very stiff at first and took time to comform to my feet. Not going to lie - that process wasn't comfortable. But, now that they have been worn in, the sturdiness of this trail shoe is formidable. Between the traction and firmness, I do not worry about uneven and difficult terrain as much as I did with a minimalist shoe. The laces are kitsch. I love that :) The drawstring and pocket are fun to lace / unlace. I'm dreading when / if the the laces break or deteriorate, but I'm hoping that doesn't happen any time soon.
Great all round shoe! I would say it is a littie bit more responsive than the SENSE RIDE. It has a more performance feel and fit. The shoes really begin to shine when the trail gets more technical. The Profeel Film in the fore foot offers rock protection that gives you a good feel of the trail at the same time. I have about 70 miles on the shoes without showing any durability issues.
Okay 2nd time out with about 10 miles on these. My first thought was they were a bit stiff. But with the rocker it felt pretty good on trails and very stable. I think with a few more runs they brake-in and fell much better. One suggestion would be to move the inside support back maybe 5mm "see photo" I think this would allow more room at the ball of the foot.
These are excellent shoes! I have ran approximately 80 miles on them and so far so good! I have done a mixture or trail/sidewalk/asphalt and they feel great on all three! The only concern I would say is that they a bit on the heavy side but then that is expected as they are trail shoes.
Overall this is a great trail runner. From the first time I put them on I knew that this was going to be my new go to shoe for trail running and basically any outdoor activity on the trail. Not only does the lacing system make it a breeze to get moving with a quickness, but the construct of the shoe feels very solid and provides me and my feet / toes (tested this out many a times) with the confidence I need while on the most rugged of trails. I will say I was a bit hesitant about the mesh paneling on the side of the shoe as some of my initial runs were on some colder days, but it actually proved to be a blessing in disguise as my feet never got too hot while on the run. I absolutely love hitting the trail in these shoes and find myself always looking forward to lacing them up and getting outdoors. Great job Salomon! I am a buyer for life!
