Disclaimer, I have huge feet, size 14. Have about 20 miles on these, mostly flat trail miles in central NJ. Shoes are WAY too tight in the mid foot and loose in the heel. Tried a shoe stretcher, made a little progress, still tight up front. Never had runners with a loose heel. can't get a good lockdown. That being said if this shoe fit properly I'd love it. Enough grip and protection, light and nimble. Suggest Salomon get a different foot model for the larger sizes. I started in the Speedcross and changed to the Wildcross when I started trail running and never had issues like this, left Salomon for other reasons. Circled back after my brand of choice completely F'd up the greatest trail runner ever made. Guess the search goes on for a replacement.
I have been a loyal Speedcross buyer but wanted to branch out after 12yrs. Knowing Salomon has fit my feet well past I was willing to try something a bit lighter, with less drop and similar traction. I feel I have relatively narrow feet and find the Pulsar to be slightly wider/ larger than I'd prefer. I wear a 9.5 with perfect for in the speedcross so got the same size in the Pulsar, they are comfortable but my feet don't require so much space in the toe box.
Really enjoying the Pulsar so far. It feels light, smooth, and quick on every type of terrain I’ve tried—park loops, rocky sections, and mixed trail. The superfoam gives a nice pop without feeling unstable, and the grip is solid even when you pick up the pace. Great balance of protection and speed. If you want a trail shoe that can handle a bit of everything, this one’s an easy yes.
The Pulsar is comfortable and I don't at all notice the weight of the shoe. It has more structure than other trail shoes I've used, but I appreciate the sure-footedness and energetic underfoot feel that it offers. I'm not racing in it, but its the shoe I am most confident in for adventures (50 miles in Death Valley next week). I'm on my third pair.
This one is fantastic for running fast on the trail. Anything up to about 20 miles. It does really well with wet and technical surfaces, including mud. I wouldn't wear them for an ultra but anything less than that and these are my favorite.
The Pulsar has changed! I have had Pulsar for years and I like the firm support. These are like walking on air. Literally. Feel good. Just got through having surgery on my foot. Got these and man I could finally walk all day.
I've loved the Pulsar and Sense Ride in the past, so this shoe quickly became a favorite after my first run in them. It's comfortable, durable and can be worn for training and racing.
The Genesis is a direct descendant of the Sense Ride family, of which I owned the Sense Ride 4 and Sense Ride 5. The SR 4 punched well above its weight in the simple-trainer category. It was nimble, well structured, and stable in technical terrain, with adequate cushioning. One day in 2022 I left my proper race shoes at home and the only trail pair in my bag were the SR 4. The next day I finished a 50-miler in these with no issues and happy feet! The SR 5, however, was a letdown. Rigid and awkward; my particular pair also featured the extreme annoyance of a freely sliding left insole that could not be fixed in any way other than glue. I was all too happy to retire these and the new pair of Genesis is a clear winner not over just the failed SR 5, but over the mightily fine SR 4 as well. The Genesis has a thicker stack and more, softer cushioning without sacrificing the stability or handling in moderately technical terrain. The feet breathe better through the revised upper. Foothold is the same perfect Salomon fit with the Quicklace system. Use these amply for your training runs or, if you dare, for an ultra!
The shoes are comfortable, they are my gym shoe. The second time I put them on, the finger loop in the cable pocket ripped out. Pretty disappointing.
Runs a bit large, the tongue tab could use some reinforcement. Been in salomons for over a decade. Dozens of pairs in, first time issues
