Salomon  S/LAB Genesis 2 Trail-Running Shoes

Great job with the colorways, Salomon! Black on black on black is one of the all-time classics, and it suits such an iconic shoe as the S/LAB Genesis perfectly! That said, as a big fan of the original version (I have it in both black/blue and chocolate/vanilla), I'm pretty sure this shoe was never meant to be just about looking pretty—it's about calling you to run strong, fast, and far. I'm itching to get my hands on the new version and take it for a run in the Cascades! Attached is a photo of my beloved V1 after a 50-mile race. Does it look pretty now? Absolutely. 💯

I’ve been trail running for almost 20 years now, and IMO these are the best trail running shoes on the planet, bar none! The wider mid and outsoles provide unbelievable stability and the fit in the mid and toe areas is a smidge wider making it extremely comfortable while not giving up any stability. The new contagion is perfect on mid-tech to full technical terrain, and the drop and cushioning make for an extremely comfortable ride on runnable portions of the trail as well as steep, technical descents. Absolutely NO heal slip as I had heard someone comment on another platform, and have had no hotspots anywhere. New speed lace and top garage are a nice touch, and the matriyx upper seems supportive and breathable. Thank you Salomon for bringing yet another epic trail shoe to your customer base :-)

I bought these around a month ago. The grip with these on technical terrain is excellent and the shoes fit true to size for me. Last weekend I ran a really technical 50 miler with a lot of elevation in these and a potential design flaw became quite apparent to me. The uppermost eyelet for the lacing system doesn’t sit very flush at all on the inside of the shoe and created some brutal hotspots on my feet which resulted in some pretty bad blisters. This is something I have never experienced with any of my pairs of S/lab Genesis shoes or any of my Salomon trail shoes for that matter. Disappointed to say the least and I can’t see these being my go to shoes for any longer runs.

These are great on long runs as they are very comfortable and extremely light weight. I've used them on gravel, extremely rocky and in the mud. I think you'll love them. Only thing that I don't love is that after being totally submerged in water (which I had to do crossing a stream) they retain the water more than I would like. it drains through the mesh easily, but is does sit in the bottom of the shoe and "squishes" when you run. If your an all-terrain runner i think you'll love these, like i do.

6 weeks in and breaking in ok. Noticeably narrower in the forefoot and less breathable especially in warmer weather but grip on technical trails excellent as is the comfort level of new foam. Some hotspots on the side of my feet after a long run due to narrow fit but superb on technical ground makes it worth breaking in. Haven’t notice the slight additional weight or lower drop and feel like they will be more durable. The colour way is getting stared at but not in a good way - remind me of my primary school black pumps! A good trail shoe but not as good a fit as the original for me.

I must start by saying the S/Lab Ultra 2 was my all time favorite trail running shoe, the Ultra 3 missed the mark for me. I liked the Genesis but they were missing something. The Genesis 2 seems to be all three shoes in one!!! These will be my work horses from here on out!

I’ve had these shoes for about a month. I have always preferred less than more in trail shoes and these fit that bill. No big chunks under my feet to turn my ankles on the rocks and roots around here. Just finished a marathon in them and they worked well. The outsoles were grippy on the wet trail fresh off a through rain. The midsoles seemed to take a little more of the pounding than previous shoes so I didn’t feel the miles as much. And the fit remained tight throughout so the uppers did well. All in all, a great shoe.

Replaced my S/LAB Genesis (500 miles) with the new S/LAB Genesis 2. Nice and stable with good cushion while maintaining ability to feel the ground. However on the first run they gave me a blister. Heel counter appears less stable as in the previous version, it collapsed / bunched up and allowed the stitching of the back loop to rub on my achilles, giving me a blister. Hope this will get some attention while dialing in the manufacturing process / fine tuning the design.

These shoes are awesome - the fit, build quality, traction, and colorway are all excellent. The original was my favorite shoe of all time, and I like this version even more. So far I’ve been using them on my daily 9 mile trails runs and my feet are very happy in them. Additionally, the new midsole is notably more responsive while retaining the overall feel of the original. Already bought a backup pair, I will be loading the miles onto these!
