As close to a cabin as a tent can get, the 3-season, 4-person Marmot Colfax 4P tent is incredibly spacious. Easy to set up, it converts from a tent to a sun shade in a snap.

This is a nice tent. Until it rains. Then the window screen tabs leak like sieves. Then there are 6 active little faucets in your tent. Camping in the rain is fine, as long as you have a dry place to go. This does not fit that description - the leakage happened both times it rained on our trip. I expect more from a quality brand like Marmot.
First car camping trip with 2 young kids. 7 days in Acadia park (Maine) where temps dropped to low 40s at night, and poured rain for two of those nights. No leaking or condensation issues. Space was perfect for us (two adults, a 4yo, and a 6yo) with bags in the tent. We had ample space to play card games and eat our meals inside while it stormed outside. Easy setup at night with just headlamps upon arrival to the camp, the poles seem solid enough, zippers are sturdy against little kids' handling of them, loved having lots of mesh but being able to roll all the privacy flaps up as needed, and the interior hooks and pockets are well placed. I just wish there is a privacy flap that goes over the main door like for the smaller 2nd door and over the other two walls. Otherwise the rain fly provides privacy. Also the zipper on the rain fly easily sticks when you first stumble out first thing in the morning when you're still a bit uncoordinated.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lots of room and great design, should have had a full canopy over zippered screened windows. Great tent if no rain is expected.
I really wanted to like this tent. I even ordered the porch. Loved the space, the ventilation, the footprint. But was constantly wet. The tabs on the windows will wick water into the tent. If it had a full coverage fly it would be a great tent.
This tent is not waterproof. A stream of water was running inside towards the edge and it was wet under our sleeping pads. I like all the screens and windows, but not being able to stay dry in the rain is a problem.
Loved the generous windows, roomy height, & easy set-up, but it is not water proof. We had drips from above & puddles from just 10 minutes of rain. Very disappointed. Wish I would’ve read the other reviews becore buying this tent. Thankfully REI accepted it for a full refund.
Loved this tent during nice weather but after one rainy night, we had puddles on all 3 sides without the privacy door. So unfortunate.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought our colfax 4 Person tent in 2020 February. The tent is very very easy to setup. Hardly takes 5/6 minutes for my kids to set it up. Apart from that last year we were camping in rain for 2 nights and it was a heavy pour but the tent with held the high winds and the pour without any issues. We stayed dry and warm all the time during our camping. The one great thing about the product is that the quality of the material used is really great. I used to have a limestone 4 person tent before and we used it like for 10 years extensively(with pets) and finally gave it away to a friend who is still using it. Enough space for 4 People to sleep easily and store some of your stuff inside the tent.
I freakin love this tent. I absolutly love that the windows zip up from the inside. That makes the tent so amazingly useful compared to other similar tents. I've had this thing in an absolute downpour at a music festival and didn't have any issues with water leakage like the other reviewers. I did a lot of research before getting this tent and am extremely happy with it.
Before buying a tent, my girlfriend and I researched about 30 models and narrowed it down to 3-4. This one was a bit pricier, but we loved the ventilation options (for breezes at the beach and in warm SoCal). We ordered it to ship to a local REI, and the staff actually helped us set it up to ensure we were confident in it (Love that customer service!!) This tent is all about options and enjoying the outdoors while still having a peaceful, protected inner space. You can remove the top yellow bit. You can zip up all the side mesh parts, or let them flow. There's a rain hood (it stopped raining in CA years ago, but hey, if I'm in OR ;). Plus it's tall and spacious, but doesn't have a boxy, gigantic feel. It's like sharing a king bed at the beach! She wanted to be able to stand in it (5'6) , and me not being all hunch-y (I'm 6'1 barefoot). It's good there too. Really though, this tent has gotten me to the beach far more than I ever would've gone. I'm sensitive to the bright light and sounds, so this option is IDEAL for spending the day at the beach, esp the way you can decide how much sun, air, light, noise etc to let in (by zipping up). It makes the beach delightful adventure -- even on windy and overcast days. Now I can beach year round, which is so grounding and restorative - as you probably know! (We've also been camping in it and enjoyed it.) Highly recommended. PS: Tip: I keep the tent, plus a tarp and thin blanket(s) in a Patagonia large duffel bag (the 90L or 120L that REI also sells). It's lightweight enough that I can wear the whole thing on my back, walking to the beach. You're like a turtle with an expandable shell that way. : )
