Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Compact Lantern I wanted one of these for a while for camping but never got around to it until we lost power for a few days because of a strong storm. We needed something that took regular batteries since we couldn't charge a rechargeable type and this was perfect, 3 D-cells. I like the ability to hang it upside down by the fold out hook on the bottom. Main handle feels strong and folds down conforming to the shape of the base. We used it for just a couple nights but left it on all night. Obviously not the supposed 30 days that they say it will do but good enough for most uses that I can think of. I assume you're only getting 30 days on the lowest of 3 light level settings but it was enough on the low setting for our uses but the max setting is impressive at 300 candela.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lantern Used this lantern for several trips off-roading and family camping. It is very durable, bright, and super handy. It is the perfect replacement for our parents' gas lantern without the mess of gasoline, the hassle of broken mantles or broken glass, and the fumes. As a bonus, it is significantly smaller! Good value at this price point; other battery-powered lanterns this bright are overpriced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little lamp Bought for car camping. Multiple camping trips and still on original batteries. Super bright on high, use mostly on lower setting. Started using in place of flashlight it is so bright. Grandkids use the bright light to play in yard at night. Have used in 2 power outages at cabin so far. Back up batteries in package may go bad before I use up the ones in the lantern. Hint: to locate the on/off switch in the dark pivot the contour of the lantern handle to hold it away from the body of the lantern.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Underrated. Simple. Bright. Durable. Long battery This lantern is highly underrated in my opinion. Similarly priced to competitors' lantern, but very bright. Fairly durable. Also, the batteries seem to last forever, uses for D cells. Simple operation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from super bright lantern! This is a great lantern - it's bright, but has three different light intensity levels. Even better is that it diffuses light well even on the highest setting - this means you don't feel like you're burning your retinas if you look at it. It is compact, although probably too heavy for backpacking - great for car camping!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great little lantern We brought this lantern car-camping with us last weekend, and loved it. Its light-weight , so perfect for hanging from the roof of the tent, and has three brightness settings, which came in handy for in-tent use. It wasn't as bright as a gas-powered lamp would be, but it did the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for when the power goes out Excellent lamp, very bright. Has two brightness settings. There is a bail type handling for carrying and a hook on the bottom for hanging.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Three brightness choices This is great to take outside when it is dark. All three light choices were bright. I really only used the lowest setting in our camper/van because the others were too bright. I'm a bit concerned about battery usage/drainage because I use this lantern only when camping.

Can this lantern use rechargeable batteries in addition to the disposable batteries?

Asked by: Hackman
Yes, rechargeable "D" cell batteries can be used in the 30 Day Duro Lantern. The rechargeable batteries cannot be charged while in the lantern.
