Plastic!
Lightweight because it's smaller than I expected and made out of plastic. The light is fine for my purposes. The built in battery means this lantern won't be usable after the battery is no longer rechargeable. For the price point I feel like the battery better last more than 5 years and hopefully 10, but the plastic might not! I can't understand why it's durable if it's made from plastic. It feels like a toy. I feel like I should've been more thorough before I purchased this lantern. I'll keep it anyway.
The BEST ever.........
This is probably one of the best lanterns I've ever owned. Not only does it provide more than enough light, the battery stays charged for a very long time. One of the greatest purposes, I feel, is during storms when the power goes out. Also, should I go through another hurricane and have no power for days on end, having the USB port is fantastic because I can always charge the battery in my car and not have to panic when all of the flashlights are dead and the stores have no batteries. I plan on purchasing a few more for family and friends. It is well worth the money. Thank you Coleman!
Essential tool for all my outdoor adventures!
This thing is so incredibly bright! With 400 lumens of light, it illuminates an entire campsite. The best part? It's rechargeable! So I no longer have to worry about constantly buying new batteries or running out of power in the middle of something! The rechargeable battery life is wonderful! It can also easily be charged using a USB cable. One minor downside to this lantern is its size and weight. It is a bit larger and heavier than some other lanterns on the market, but I personally don't mind it since it provides such a powerful and reliable light source.
My test
I received the Lantern and charged it immediately. There's a helpful LED, that indicates if the battery is "Charging" or "Ready". Then I let the lantern sit idle for two weeks, to see if there was any leakage from the battery.. Then I started my test, to see how long the battery would be functional on the 'low' setting. (on the 'low' setting, you can move around within a kitchen). I tested as if the lantern was used in a 'no power' situation of 2 hours on, 4 off, 3 on, etc -- for 4 consecutive days. The battery kept the same 'workable' wattage for 24½ hours - with only the first initial charge. Preparing for Storms
Perfect gift for when the power goes out during a storm. Bought this as a gift for a friend who lives in Florida and loses electricity often during hurricanes. This will give her light for several hours on low beam. It will sit securely on a table but also has a handle so it can be carried from room to room. The portability allows it to be taken with her if she is ordered to evacuate.
A great non-fuel lantern!
With the classic Coleman lantern design, this LED version is lightweight version. It has two settings, and the bright is REALLY bright. (We decided to keep this one in our bedroom within easy reach for when we have sudden winter power outages.) A great design element of this lantern is that the charger fits out of sight in the base.
Great compromise in lumens, size, and cost
Review is for Coleman 400 lumen red lantern with CPX 6 battery (either 4 “D” cells or rechargeable battery). I like the amount of light suites two people nicely. No need for 700 lumens. And better than 190 lumens. Still like color red compared with green. Lightweight and relatively small. Love it!
Great Lantern
We have been using this lantern for many years, it's the slightly older model with Florescent bulb but basically the same design. I like the features on this lantern, and the recharging capability of it. Very bright, and holds a long charge. I like the yellow night light feature as well.
Super bright with a good battery life!
I recently got the Coleman 400 Lumens Rechargeable Lantern, and I’ve been really impressed. After using it for a few storms, camping trips, and just when the power goes out at home, I can safely say this has become one of the most dependable pieces of gear in our household. When fully charged, the light is bright—400 lumens on high gives off plenty of illumination to light up a large room or tent. On low or medium, it’s still strong enough for general use without being blinding. The multiple brightness settings are much more useful than I thought they’d be. It really helps that it has lifetime LEDs, so there’s zero worry about “burning out bulbs” or fiddling with replacements. Coleman The rechargeable battery is a big plus. We’ve used it repeatedly during power outages, and it held up longer than expected. The built-in lithium-ion battery charges via USB-C (cord included), and handles charging well. It’s also nice that when it’s fully charged, there’s an indicator so I know when I’m good to go. Cole
