Fun lights: Solar String Lights 2024
I still have yet to get a full charge on Solar, I live in Hawaii. Also, Love the multi color choices, the fact that the bulbs are not glass and that the 44’ string is light weight. One defect in design is the little tiny hook for the strap to hook into to make a loop for hanging. My tiny plastic hook broke after two uses…. The plastic hook doesn’t have sufficient volume or density to actually work well. I’m disappointed that the little plastic cannot be glued back to work well. I’m hoping for an exchange and that they will fix that design glitch.
Led color frequency not consistent.
I don't want to say that I purchased a defective unit but my first impression was that either it was defective or there is a considerable amount of voltage drop because the bulbs closer to the battery are significantly brighter than the bulbs further from the battery. Also, on each of the 3 brightness levels there are random locations of bulbs that are a more cool white light compared to the majority warm white light. I plan to use the lights on my next trip and see how they work. Initially I don't feel it's worth the $99 I paid, the quality just isn't there.
Worked great, until it didn't work at all
We loved this light set, until it broke for seemingly no reason. If anyone has any suggestions for repairs, we would appreciate it. I hate to fill landfills with gear that likely should work? In general, the product seemed to stop charging.
Holding Out Hope
Amazing… for about 4 hours. Used this on a weekend camp trip. First night was great, love the different dimming options, surprised by how much light they put up in our screen enclosure. Went to charge second day and noticed it wasn’t holding. It was a very hot day so placed in the direct sun for 5+ hours hoping for a solar charge only to return to a dead battery. Tried our external charging station, nada. Got home from trip and contacted vendor directly, they suggested a 24hr reset charge, still nothing. One note about BioLite customer service, they are email only which was quite annoying, took 5x as long to get answers. Planning to swap out at here at REI, so far pretty disappointed but hoping I just got a defect.
So cool and bright but bigger than I expected!
I have the regular shorter version of these lights which I love but have always wished they would cover a longer area so when these came out I was SO pumped. Got them and I was surprised at how much bigger the housing was than the original. I don't know why I was expecting them to be the same size even though the string length was so much longer. Anyways the length increase is huge! I may not use them for backpacking like I would the regular string lights because it's a bit bulky and heavy but these are definitely my new patio lights. Love them!
I would buy this product again.
I am using this Luci Solar String Light on my sailboat. Love how I am lit up while anchored in a bay. I have been using Luci lights on my boat for about 8 years and very pleased with how they hold up in extreme conditions. I bought two of the 44' solar string lights and will be taking the other one home to use while camping off grid.
Exactly what I was looking for!
I love the regular Luci lights but always felt like I came up short length-wise when trying to deco my patio for parties. Now I have plenty AND do not have to put them up and take them down every time I have people over! Love the easily removable battery and neutral cord to blend into my patio's awning and rod iron more seamlessly.
not worth it
I bought two of these lights last year and used them once this year. After one time camping, the solar battery hub doesn’t charge. Had the same issue with the stake lights. Contacted customer service, and the new ones also don’t work. Very frustrating and not worth the price.
It's alright
Doesn't make sense there's a holder plug and a plug. It's also annoying that the container has to stay open for it to be plugged in. It's also annoying that you have to unwind the whole entire rope to plug it in. Also there should be more hooks to clip it in or clip it around things or those clips should be movable.

Detachable power hub is brilliant!
We use this light string in our portable screen room when we camp. The detachable power hub is a fantastic idea! We also have two of the shorter strings and wish their power hub detached. The ability to charge the power hub using a USB charger is also great. We have been able to charge the hub while driving.
