Great tread pattern, awful construction quality.
I've had a set of these tires on my hardtail 29er for about six months now; although I really love this tread pattern, it seems like I'm always having issues with the sidewalls of every set of Continentals I buy. This particular set is currently seeping air out of thousands of tiny pin holes. I bought the "Protection" especially for the chili compound sidewalls while under the impression that they would provide a necessary piece of mind when running tubeless. The previous set of Continentals I ran instantly split the sidewall on the first rock I ran over; now I realize that situation could have easily been chalked up to "operator error," so I gave them another chance and I didn't work out to say the least. I wouldn't recommend Continentals to anyone at this point.
Sidewalls seep
Been using Contys exclusively for past two years, the Mtn King as a front tire. While they perform very well in variable conditions, the sidewall seepage issue is annoying. You will need to reapply Sealant every 3-4 weeks in arid climates and the sidewalls quickly look ugly. I am so amazed a company like Continental has not rectified this issue. I get these tires half price, which is what keeps me using them (makes up for all the Stan's I have to buy!)
Weeping about these
Love the ride and traction perform well in Sierras and desert. Hate that the Stan's weeps out the side walls and make a gooey mess after a short while. Wrote Conti 2 times with no response. Bringing them back to REI, hoping their 100% satisfaction policy is honored.
