Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but not the best. I purchased this knife several years ago for motorcycle and car camping. It comes sharp, is very light, and packs well. The biggest problem with this knife is that the included sheath (a necessary piece of equipment in a knife you intend to stick in a bag) does not stay on the knife at all. It can just fall off leading to damaged other goods or peoples. Further, for LESS money, you can get a KAI brand "Pure Komachi" santoku (or other) knife that is made with good Japanese steel (KAI is the parent company of Shun) and comes with a much better sheath that won't fall off. Weight is comparable as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this "Asian" knife! I use this for car camping, not for backpacking. This thing is easy to clean and very, very sharp! Very light and is way better than kitchen knife. Very compact and love knife guard case. Cut anything like bread and butter. Love it. Will buy it again if it disappears. Must have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very light and easy to pack This knife is super sharp and very light -- excellent for camping. It is large but not bulky and fits easily into my kitchen kit. The blade is a bit on the thin side (keeping the weight down) so I might pass on using it where I had a heavier option and I worry about the results of sharpening. But for the weight and the price, I am a fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp, light and safely packable We are SUV campers and serious wildland travelers. Before getting this knife, we had to carefully pack my wife's pricey and huge chef's knife. This is much easier to pack, is well suited to downsized camp cooking, and the plastic sheath protects both the quality blade and our fingers and hands, as we rummage through our gear box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp, light, right price Nice, sharp 440 steel, compact design with a lightweight sheath, and not any more expensive than a decent-quality regular chef's knife. Saves my good kitchen knives from getting messed up outdoors and my favorite pocket knives from getting gunked up with food. Great for car camping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly light! I went on a climbing trip with a friend and tried out his culinary knife. I could not believe how light it was yet it still handled like a legit chefs knife. I'll be purchasing my own soon as its great for anything from car camping to an overnighter in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp Knives:WOW! I bought a few knives for my car camping set- up and I've been so happy with the ease of use and fidelity of the blades. They are unbelievably sharp and have remained sharp over the numerous days of outdoor adventures.
