Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works perfectly as water repellant I bought this for my hats and winter coats and this works much better than other box store brands I'd tried. It sprays an even fine mist (where as other box brands sometimes shoots out globs & blobs) and great coverage on garment. Gave it two coats to make sure complete coverage and all items repelled water perfectly in light to heavy rain. And this Revive version works much better without need to heat items in dryer or hair dryer; only takes a few hours to dry completely at room temp

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 100% waterproof This stuff made my sleeping bag 100% waterproof where nikwax barely helped at all. I will only be using revivex from now on. I don't expect long term durability with the air dry version, but it is convenient if you don't have access to a proper drier for the heat activated version. Get two cans for treating a sleeping bag. It is best to use a vapor barrier on the inside of your bag if you treat it because revivex will lower breathability.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a replacement traditional wash-in or spray DWR I used this to treat the hood and shoulders of my Marmot Precip that had been wetting out. I followed the cleaning instructions to the tee and then applied the product liberally to my jacket. After drying overnight, I tested the effectiveness of the application under my bathroom faucet. Water beaded up nicely during that initial test the product seemed to perform as advertised. Then I took then jacket outside in a mist/very light rain and it wetted out after 10 minutes. I would never trust this product to waterproof any of my gear. It's not even suitable for DWR touchups. I'm going to stick to the tried and true wash-in and spray DWR products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy 2 I sprayed my tent and fly before my most recent and was able to withstand 3 hours of Sierra storm without a drop of water getting into my tent. My only wish is that I had bought 2 cans the first time rather than going back but I can be an over sprayer so one might be fine for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good price, used once, so far so good I bought this for a ski jacket that had lost its waterproofing. Putting it on was easy, though I've only been out once in wet snow since using it. So far so good. My rating will go to excellent when I've had a chance to 'test' it multiple times.

Is it safe for down jackets and how well does it protect against moisture for down garments?

Asked by: BEETS
The ReviveX Air Dry Water Repellent Spray is safe to use on the exterior of clean down garments. Most down jackets sold by REI come with a factory applied water repellent finish which is called a DWR. A product like this is used once that factory finish wears off. It should make the jacket resist light rain for about half an hour.

Is ReviveX or Nikwax better for restoring DWR finish, but retaining a modest amount of breathability?

Asked by: treetop flyer
Both products do an excellent job of restoring DWR and leaving the fabric breathable.

Asked by: Juez Joe
ReviveX states this product is safe for use on all fabrics. They recommend spot testing on full-grain leather prior to a full application.

Will this product work on items not previously water proofed?

Asked by: Mark backpacker
ReviveX Air Dry Water Repellant Spray is safe to use on all types of fabrics, but is best suited for technical fabrics. They recommend spot testing on leather to test for discoloration. After application, let the product sit for 48 hours to allow the repellant to set into the fabric.

How does this RiviveX Air Dry product compare to the ReviveX "Durable Waterproofing Spray For Outerwear", other than 1st one air drys and the other needs to tumble in the dryer? Does one waterproof better than the other? Is one better for the environment?

Asked by: Merry Hiker
This spray can be applied to all different types of gear, while the other spray is meant for fabric. They are both great sprays and should waterproof your gear equally well. Neither spray is more environmentally friendly than the other.

On average how much stuff can you waterproof with a single 5 oz can? How many jackets, how much of an average 2 person tent, etc.

Asked by: Jamie AZ-MA-AK
The 5 ounce bottle of the ReviveX will treat up to 2 garments.
