Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sock Bought one pair of these to try for hiking and I wish I had bought more. I am never able to get my feet warm during the colder temperatures when I am outdoors, especially hiking, and these were more than comfortable! They regulated the temperature of my feet so they were warm but still kept my feet relatively dry and comfortable. My boots normally give me some blisters on the back of my heels but while wearing these socks I didn't have any soreness or blisters! I will definitely be looking into buying some more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy socks I picked up these socks to go hiking in. They're my first pair of hiking socks ever, recommended to me by a coworker. They're amazingly comfortable and kept my feet all snug and dry (even though my hiking boot was a bit wet from the condensation). I got a size small and wear about a 6.5 shoe- and found that the front of the sock was very roomy compared to normal socks and I could actually wiggle my toes! I'm not sure if this is due to the size, or the proper fitting of hiking socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb hiking socks I don't use anything but SmartWool (or the slightly cheaper REI wool clones) when hiking or backpacking...summer or winter. Durable as long as your shoes fit well, machine wash fine if turned inside out and line dried, fit well with no blister-causing seams. And why am I reviewing a pair of women's socks? Bought three pair off the rack and didn't notice one of them was a woman's. But no worry, that pair fit well so I didn't return them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and fabulous Bought these for a trek up Kilimanjaro and have been using them since. They're fantastic for summer hiking, as well as spring and fall when it's not too cold. For colder weather, I'll add a pair of liner socks and/or use something heavier, but for summer these are perfect. Wick moisture away and won't make your feet overheat. I'll probably be buying a couple more pairs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from try the small I wear a size 8 shoe and found that the small fit better. The medium, which is suppose to be my size, bunched up in the heel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wears out way too fast I started buying Smartwool socks for everyday use, and have had several pairs. I love the way they feel and fit, but for the cost, they wear out much too quickly. They are too thin and it only takes a couple of months and I can see my toes as the threads become more thin. I'd recommend them, but mostly recommend the Smartwool folks put a little extra into a good sock to make it really great, or cut the price in half.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm Feet in Cold Weather I bought these a few weeks ago to supplement the REI-brand socks I already had, and I'm so glad I did. A huge cold front just swept through our area so I wore these socks (and my other pairs) all week, and my feet stayed warm throughout! I do also love them for hiking - wore them on my first long hike in a while and they kept my feet cushioned prefectly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from wear out too quickly I love Smartwool socks because they have a small size that fits my size 6 foot. They are great for the first 6 months, but they always wear out, and way too fast for the price. Their hiking and casual socks wind up with holes on the bottom in less than a year. I have been through about 20 pairs, and all have the same result. Very disappointing. I won't buy any more.

What is the sock cushioning on this sock? Light or medium? It's not listed. Thanks!

Asked by: KGreen
