Warm, not too tight, and not too bulky. However, they will add bulk so keep that in mind regarding shoes. I would def go up 1/2 a size in shoes to use these for hiking.

Super comfy, thick, & warm. Love the color too. I’m petite and the size small comes up almost mid calf on me. Plan to wear it as an everyday sock. My feet are always cold! Very happy with this purchase.

I bought a couple pairs of these socks in advance of a long and difficult walking/hiking trip in England in May. They were very comfortable and fit well. I managed to get through an eight-day trip (with a lot of mileage and climbing) with barely a blister. Highly recommend. (

Others are amazed to learn how well they manage moisture while providing support and protection in cold and hot temperatures. My sister, niece, (and next up) nephew love these socks. I have nothing bad to say about them (!) though the new name (Hike Full Cushion) might seem a bit harder to distinguish from other Smartwool lines than the former name (PhD Outdoor). The quality of these socks are second to none. I have tried others and they just do not work. They are the only socks I wear all year long. My feet have gotten very sensitive in my advanced years (70) and I have a limited budget but choice quality over quantity.

I think these socks are great! I am trying to decide between getting more of them vs. two other well-known merino wool sock brands, and so far the smartwools are winning! They have stayed the warmest yet softest for the longest over 7 or 8 washings so far. Also I just keep wanting to only wear this pair of socks rather than my other winter sock choices. I am sort of looking for socks that are slightly thicker than these, like my ancient smartwool socks were, but so far these are my top replacement choice for them.

Based on reviews, I ordered a pair. I even ordered them a size larger because I don't like my socks too snug. I wear a size 9 med. shoe and even going up a size, the foot was too small and the ankle too tight. Will be returning them.

I love these socks! My feet are always cold and these socks keep my feet just right temp-wise. They are comfortable too. Wear them hiking as well as daily around the house. Great for anything!

I purchased both the full cushion and light cushion crew socks. I have to say my favorite sock is the light cushion socks for everyday use and hiking. This is because the full cushion sock tends to stretch out during use. I might buy a size smaller next time and see if this fixes the problem, although these socks are definitely warmer and I will be wearing them when I'm out in the cold of winter.
