I’m 63, and purchased these runners for a holiday in the U.K. They are a cross between a runner and a hiking shoe, and they offered maximum cushioning for my joints. They are so comfortable, and I’m convinced I was able to walk further, and longer because of these shoes. Being waterproof was an added bonus. If I could change one thing, it would be to lose the lightening bolt around the shoe. A solid black shoe with black sole, would be perfect for travel. I know that’s not what these were necessarily intended for, but EVERYONE in Europe, and the U.K. seem to be wearing running shoes for touring around. Even in the evenings. It would be great to have a shoe like this that also went ok with dress pants. I hope Salomon will consider this for the future. This isn’t a criticism, but a suggestion. I love these shoes!
I really want to love this shoe. Whatever magic they put in the foam sole to give you the energy return / "bounce" makes the shoe SO SO fun to run in. The small drop height is perfect for a midfoot striker. However, it is just too unstable for me on the trails. I had a few slight ankle rolls getting used to it; I found I could avoid rolling my ankles by slowing my pace quite a bit. I was feeling pretty confident after about a month of wear; however, I tried to speed up in it yesterday and suffered a major ankle roll, resulting in a sprain. If you are not prone to ankle rolls OR intend to use this only on hardpack dirt, I would recommend this shoe. If you're like me, I (regretfully) advise avoiding.

I walk my dogs in grass on our property. My hiking books continually soak in the morning dew and I was tired of wet soggy feet. I've had these for weeks and they are fantastic! My husband has a pair also and the only issue is he tends to wear them all day (in the heat) and boy do they stink. If I could only convince him to change his shoes once the dew is gone. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Very comfortable. I took an entire size small than my normal hiking boots (from an 8 to a 7) but my husband was able to wear his normal size.
I bought these to replace another pair of Salomon trail runners that had worn out but aren’t available anymore. I really like the cushion, the comfort and that they are waterproof, perfect for dog walks in the winter too! I do wish they had traditional laces, don’t love the elastic. I have a rough nerve on the top of my foot that requires I skip an eyelet and I may have to sacrifice the shoes for a different pair unless there’s a way to change that out. I wish there were different color options but that’s a suggestions not a complaint.
I have high arch,a bit wide foot and this are so lightweight and comfortable and my only wish was if they could make the colors a bit more fun bs black ect ..but I loved them from the moment I tried them on!
I live in nyc and wanted something that was waterproof, and safe for running in snow/sludge/rain. These definitely check all the boxes. I feel safe running down hill in the park trails. Be aware that the shape is more of a forward roll (which I quickly got used to). Couldn’t recommend more! I always wear a 6 in running shoes (Hoka, On) and the 6 in these fits perfectly. If I reallyyyy wanted I could, probably wear a 5.5 but like the roomier fit of the 6 for swelling.
First I bought the non-Gore-Tex version and I loved them so much I had to buy the Gore-Tex version as well. I have a bunion and these provide plenty of room, and are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I haven't been able to trail run in years, but these shoes have allowed me to start running again with zero pain. Also, these shoes look super cool. I would give them 10 stars if I could.
Love how this shoe fits. Right out of the box its comfortable; stable in the midfoot and a bit wider in the toe box. Plenty of rocker makes for a great ride and although you're sitting on a lot of foam, you never feel terribly high off the ground. Non-mesh upper is not super breathable but very warm and therefore my go-to cold weather shoe. Thick lugs also make it plenty rugged for snow.
I have 2 other pairs of Thundercross shoes which are not gore-tex fit great and are comfortable with laces staying put. This pair is different. The tongue is shorter and does not stay in place but scoots down no matter how tight I make it. When going on long walk I have to re cinch laces tighter numerous times as it keeps loosening and tongue moves farther under laces.

This is the GORE-TEX trail shoe I've been waiting for! Salomon has finally found the perfect mix of durability, comfort, and style in the Thundercross. I've worn Salomon GORE-TEX trail shoes for years, and couldn't be happier with their durability and longevity, but they have always been a bit too stiff for me to wear as my everyday walking/running/trail shoes. Over the years I've found a few Salomon styles that were a little more flexible and comfortable, but, in my opinion, were lacking in the style department. The past few years I've been wearing Hoka Speedgoats, and have enjoyed their style and comfort, but have sorely missed the durability and longevity of my Salomons. Yet, all that changed with the Thundercross. This shoe is by far my all-around favorite for life on the Oregon Coast that includes rain, trails, waves, and beaches. They are comfortable, durable, waterproof, and stylish. What more could you need?
