Fantastic on all types of terrain
These trail running shoes are incredible!!! This is my first pair of Salomon’s & I’ll never switch up. The grip is FANTASTIC, the shoes are comfortable and allow for all types of trail runs. I purchased this for my light hike/trail tour of southwestern Iceland and they did not disappoint. From gravel, to dirt, to rocks en route to a waterfall (wet rocks), these provided me supreme grip whereas others on the trail (it was tricky at times) did slip or slide a bit. Nothing major but these shoes definitely provided the best grip. I couldn’t even tell the ground beneath me was unstable. 10/10
I have 3 pairs.
I love the fit of this shoe. They are the most comfortable trail runners I have ever owned. The first pair I owned were/are fantastic. I still wear them as there is still quite a bit of tread. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because my second pair is already starting to come apart at the toe after two uses. I had to put new insoles in too because the original ones started to deform in the shoe causing a bit more friction than I would like. No one likes blisters.
Great shoe for hiking and trail running
I organize a monthly hike in LA (part of Sawtelle Run Club) - every time we hike I end up running and didn't have proper shoes until this pair. I followed the recommendations of sizing up so normally wear a 6 Womens and purchased a 6.5 - the fit was perfect! So happy with my purchase
Comfortable but poor sole quality
I bought these shoes Feb 18, 2026 and already the soles are worn down in various places and the rubber cleats are gone. It's been a month. Very disappointing.
Amazing shoes, just not for heel drop + metatarsal
I have always loved Salomon shoes, I never have to break them in, they work well and hold up. The only reason I’m leaving a 4 star review instead of 5 is because of the heel drop being so high, which doesn’t work for me. I developed severe foot pain, overuse tendonitis, and a ganglion cyst. X-rays revealed my first metatarsal bones are too short, causing forward lean and weight to pressure the outer toes, collapsed arches, shin splints, etc. This is not caused by the shoe, just my shape, however the high heel drop doesn’t work for my structure so I need to return these, and I really don’t want to. If you don’t have these type of foot problems, these shoes are probably going to work so amazing for you and I wish we could trade places. Here’s to hoping Salomon starts creating zero heel drop trail runners like these because I would buy them in a heartbeat.
All about the grips
Gave my new hiking shoes their first trial run at Beacon Rock. Great grips. My only concern is when I approached a wet wooden bridge, I slipped. They performed well on all other surfaces.
These shoes allow me to go the distance.
I love that they are never tight. This is my eighth pair of the same kind of shoe. The Gore-Tex is incredible. I’ve ran in snow, mud and and through creeks and I stay pretty solid. I hike about six days out of the week and these shoes are incredible. Only feature I would fix is the lace up needs to be more secure my first pair was I think cross the OG and that lace up was perfect. So perhaps just a manufacturer error. Other than that, I’d give this a nine out of 10 incredible shoe for trail running.
Thundercross replaced with Speedcross 6
2 glorious years of the Salomon Thundercross. First pair of shoes for me where the uppers outlasted the sole. (See pic) I walk/hike an average of 3 hours a day with my malamute/huskies. Easy to very difficult terrain. My day pack contains water/snacks for all of us. When I go out I need a shoe that can take on any adventure that comes our way and keep my feet and knees happy. Thundercross was replaced by Genesis but another alternative was the Speedcross 6, which I bought. I have very high expectations of this shoe. If the Speedcross 6 proves to be as durable as the Thundercross, I will be a Salomon Loyalist for life.
Misleading pictures
In the pictures for the color black/phantom there is no writing on the top flap. When I received them in the mail I was extremely disappointed seeing huge lettering “speed cross 6” written across the whole top of the shoes in light tan coloring
Love the waterproof
I've been trail running with Salomon for decades. I thought of changing it up and switching to Hoka's and I lasted all of three runs with those, went online and bought another pair of Salomon. Just can't beat Salomon I guess. Don't waste your money and try another show, you'll just go back to Salomon. New England weather is no joke, and these shoes hold their own. One day mud, and the next day snow. My feet stay warm with the gore-tex.
