Ultralight, Well Designed and Rugged

This is by far the best daypack I've evern had and I've been a serious hiker since the 70's. Great design, just the right number of pockets with easy access and three outside storage areas for clothing and or water. I don't use the hydration pack but it's well placed and holds a good day hikes worth of water. I love this pack!

Great Day Pack

I bought this pack for my son to take to Scout Camp this year. He was working as a staff member and needed a better day pack than the Magellan pack that he had. I bought this pack simply based on the price and the name recognition, without doing any real investigation into it. I knew the pack would be a big step up from his old pack, but I had no idea how much of a step up. This pack is fantastic. The weight of the pack, the access to pockets, the weight distribution system, the frame, the hydration pack...all of them are top notch. I am jealous, and I want to upgrade my REI Trailmaker 25 to this (and I really like my REI pack, it just ain't this pack). For the price, I can't believe that you will be able to find a better pack...you would be hard pressed to find a better pack at twice the price.

Could be better

This pack has a number of features that could be better. They seem to have taken the all to frequent process of value engineering. Padding seems a bit thin in all the areas - shoulder straps, hip strap, and back padding. The hydration design could be better. The pack is designed for the hydration tube to be on the right strap. The bladder is designed for the tube to be on the left. The result is that the tube is too short. The sternum strap is magnetic. I would prefer one that has a whistle buckle. You can’t get the magnet on the valve to stay attached to the magnet on the strap - hose too short. In addition, the on/off mechanism for the bite valve is hard to move from off to on. The pack has a proprietary clip on the pack and bladder to hold the bladder in the pack. This makes it hard to mix and match bladders and packs. Osprey packs have a much nicer and easier functioning bite valve and I like their bladders better. I think this pack may be discontinued, probably for the best. I would only recommend this pack if it’s heavily discounted in price.

Proportionate to price

I bought this puppy for like 90 bucks and it is really great. Balance is on the hips and cinching down the shoulder straps keeps things tight. Used it for hiking Canyonlands National Park back in mid-June. Tons of backsweat, obviously.

Better than Expected

I bought this to replace my old day pack I had for over 20 years. I mainly use it for trail maintenance. It is the perfect size for me. I am able to carry my first aid kit, my lunch/snacks, small loppers and a hand saw. It also holds a 3-liter hydration bag that came with it. What I really like that it is rigid/stands up when I put it down.

Great for hiking and biking alike!

This pack excelled while hiking 5 national parks this summer! The 3 Liter hydro-pack gave me enough hydration to share with family when needed and there's an incredible amount of storage to bring along plenty of trail necessities. I also use this as my hydro-pack while mountain biking and it performs wonderfully in it's duties there as well.

Gregory hit it right on.

Awesome pack--everything about it is GOOD! My husband loves it, and the 3D water bladder is so much better to use, clean and refill. Recommend.
