one of the best

I've been using this Camp 4 pack for about 2 years now, and it's one of my favorite pieces of gear. I use it almost daily, and it shows no signs of breakdown, so I'm sure it will last many more years. What do I like about it? First, the way the bottom is sewn allows it to stand up (most of the time; if it's empty it won't). This is great because I can set it down next to me when I'm in a coffee shop or wherever, and it says up while I take out my laptop or other items, and then also stays up while I load it again. The large grab loops at the top are super handy for grabbing and lifting it up, or just for carrying at my side. The side waterbottle pocket is simple and functions well. The shoulder straps and back pad are comfortable. There is a small zippered pocket on the top/outside...it's lined with fleece and makes a handy place for wallet/keys/glasses. The fabric itself is bomber and weatherproof. A lot of these features I'm mentioning seem very simple, but all together they make a pack that is just plain convenient to use...I have owned many daypacks over the years, and I still am surprised each time I use this one. It just works. I highly recommend.

Decent travel bag, mid everyday work bag

Not a good everyday work bag, but decent for travel. Overall feels roomier than a 21 L. But the laptop compartment is not wide enough to fit my 14" laptop. I thought I would like the zipper going all the way around the side, but its cumbersome accessing things through the side when the bag is full. The color makes me feel like a turtle (wish I considered this before purchasing).

I wanted this to be my daily work bag…

I want to love this backpack but it doesn’t work for what I had hoped (as a backpack for work). There is an external water bottle holder but NO OTHER way to store anything without opening it all up. The zipper opens very wide (yeah for easy access) but also means you have to zip it all the way closed to move the bag or else everything falls out. When I just want to stash my phone or a notebook briefly, it’s far too much effort.

Not waterproof

I had to return it because it was not waterproof. My error really, I had searched the site for waterproof backpacks and this one came up so I ordered it without double checking that aspect. In hind sight I probably could have kept it for other purposes because it was really lightweight. I needed something for Costa Rica trip, in the rainy season.

Incredible bag for the price.

I had this lightweight backpack for a year. I bought the larger size first, several years ago, it's a great bag but bulky for EDC. They both remain to be my most used bags. The 21L fits: -small peak design packing cube filled full with gym clothes -north face dopp kit 3.5L -running shoes size w8.5 -mirrorless camera with an extra lens. -14in macbook pro -Sunglasses, keys wallet & earpods. It remains to be still comfortable. And easy to maneuver on a plane or subway. The clam shell opening is essential for easy access in crowded environments and quick organized packing. cons: -not waterproof -no separate opening for laptop quick access -laptop compartment takes a bit of work to put laptop in -could use a quick grab pocket on the front -no pocket on shoulder strap

Nice backpack

I got this to replace a north face backpack that had ripped and I definitely like this one! I do have to say the inside of my old one felt a little roomier and had more organizational pockets BUT this one feels like good quality and it stands up on its own which was really helpful. Also I was a little worried about pockets but it has one on the inside, a long laptop pocket, and another zippered pocket on the outside by like your neck which is super helpful! Overall I would say it works great

Very handy pack, but not for a large laptop!

I have had this pack for over a year and it works out great for me as both a day hiking pack or for going to the office. Just one clarification for folks looking at this pack for carrying a laptop. I have the smaller 21 women's version. If just fits my 14" slim laptop with no problem. There is no way you would fit anything bigger. Perhaps the pack in the 28 size would work for that, but not the smaller one. Just hoping this helps people decide on the correct size.

Ideal Backpack

I really like this backpack! It has a sensible flat bottom, some light-colored lining in the interior which helps with locating items at the bottom. There are two handy handles on the top. It zips all the way down on one side for ease of access. I like that it has one bottle pocket. The material on the front of the bag is water resistant which is especially nice. Overall, it's perfect bag for travel with a laptop or an overnight stay.

Wanted to love it, but does not fit 15" laptop

I REALLY wanted to keep this pack. It is everything that I have been looking for. Simple organization, usable water bottle pocket, women's fit, but it does not fit a 15" mac book pro (2017). I could get the laptop in, but it took two of us to get it back out. So, unfortunately, I had to return it. The sleeve only needs a 1/2 centemeter of more space and it would be perfect.

Great pack, but fits funky in the lower back.

Great pack, but wasn’t comfortable for my lower back. I loved that it could stand up straight on its own, but the structure was a little stiff feeling on my lower back. I bike a bit, so the orange along with the reflective details was nice for a bit of added visibility. Ultimately returned it for the fit. Might’ve gotten more comfortable with time though!
