I love this versatile backpack

I bought this to be my one bag that I use for everything from work to recreation and it has lived up to my expectations. This backpack has been used everyday for the last four months and it is still as nice as the day I bought it. I keep my daily essentials organized in the many available pockets. My favorite pocket it the shallow fleece lined pocket that is perfect for a phone or glasses. I use it for my phone as it prevents scratching and me having to dig through the bag to find my phone. Unlike my previous bag (a kånken) the water bottle pockets are actually big enough for a 20 oz water bottle. There is one on each side in case you end up carrying other people’s bottles. During the week I use the laptop sleeve in the main compartment. On the weekend I ditch the laptop and stuff the main compartment with an extra layer and some snacks to go skiing or day hiking. It’s easy to clean with a damp cloth. I would recommend this back to anyone who wants a bag that can go from work to weekend or to parents who need to keep kid and personal items organized. While I never used it for this, I think it would be a great replacement for the traditional diaper bag.

I bought this to be an everyday/commuter bag: fits my laptop, lunch, bottle, an extra layer, a few notebooks + odds and ends. Overall had everything I was looking for in terms of organization but not too much & most importantly (for me) side pockets. It works well but… 1 - the lack of stretch in the side pockets really eats into the space and makes it very long and skinny inside when you put a water bottle or umbrella in the pocket. Hard to fit an A5 notebook or any book when both pockets are being used. 2 - it’s not designed to sit on a flat surface and constantly falls over 3 - I haven’t used the lower mesh pocket in the front section 4 - a (stretchy) shoulder strap pocket to fit a transit card or something small would’ve been an easy and simple way to increase the functionality and still maintain the aesthetic If #1&2 were fixed, this could be a great bag.

Great for work

I purchased this to use for work and occasionally for travel, carrying my 13 inch laptop, water bottle and a few other small things. The fabric is quality and it has a streamlined look for business casual settings. The bag is definitely petite, almost too small, but it carries everything I need it to and is not over stuffed. I really like the number and placement of pockets for organization - especially the internal zipper pockets and the top, fleece-lined pocket for sunglasses. It's great for being organized on the go. I am happy with it as a work bag, but I suspect it might be too small for travel, especially if I wanted to shove a jacket or sweatshirt into it.

Could be better.

Got this around a year ago in black, colour faded very fast - within a couple of months of owning. Now the bottom is wearing out. I expected better for a product this expensive and well regarded for their ability to survive wear and tear!

Great Bag for Travel or Everyday Use

I bought this bag for a trip to Cancun. It rocked! The best pocket is the small pocket near the top handle. It’s large enough to hold passports, keys, wallet, and headphones. I carried an iPad Pro in the laptop pocket, and a mirrorless camera and lens in the main pocket. In the second pocket I easily carried a portable battery and some miscellaneous items. The outside side pockets are just big enough for a sunglasses case. They won’t fit a hydro flask or Nalgene. I carried all of my charging cords in the outer zip pocket on the front. My only wish is that the bottom of the main pocket had a little more padding for sensitive times.

Design flaw: weak spot for abrasion at lower back

Bought this around April2023 for the look and lightweight comfort, and expect the G1000 to be very durable. However, in less than a year the edge at the lower back started to discolour and eventually broken. I suspect the fabric folded out at the lower edge creates a weak spot for abrasion with the lower back. I did not rewax the bag but I suspect one has to rewax that part rather frequently to avoid damage. I sincerely hope Fjallraven could make the fabric flat and add reinforce on that part like other hiking pack brands as it is such a beautiful looking bag. Don’t understand why the Skule got it right but not the Raven.

A Fantastic Upgrade From My Old Pack!

I've been using a 30 liter Osprey bag as my daily commuter for work since picking it up from the REI Outlet for something like $18 about six years ago. It's worked well, but it's always bothered me that it just felt and looked sort of saggy unless it was quite full. It also bothered me that it had so many straps that constantly dangled and hit my legs. So, I bit the bullet, reduced by 10 liters to the Fjallraven Raven 20, and I really couldn't be happier. Yes, I was one of those people who just wasn't fully convinced that a 20 liter bag wouldn't look ridiculous on my 5' 11", 210 pound frame. But, it doesn't. It's really the optimal size for what I need -- which is 80% commuting to and from work, with a 13 inch laptop, cords, a very light vest for when Seattle summers get less summer-y (hey, it happens), and sometimes a lunch. The finish to the bag is VERY nice. Nicer than I was expecting, even after reading the reviews from people saying similar. It's very study. The bag also is very well made and has just the right collection of pockets. It also has none of those many dangling straps I used to have on my old bag. Will it collect animal hair from the two dogs and three cats in your home? Yep. Absolutely. And, if that's a huge issue for you, perhaps this isn't the bag for you. But, you can easily wipe it away. Shoulder straps are very nice, and because it's on the small side, there's no chest strap, so, nothing to bang against you there either! Would totally recommend this bag!

beautiful bag, reduces back pain.

Don’t be fooled by how sad and drab the port color looks on camera, it’s true to its name. The beautiful port wine color compliments my pink luggage very nicely. My 15.6 HP Envy fits nicely in the laptop sleeve with enough room for a notebook and iPad. The shapely lines of the bag help in a ton of ways, I have a number of cervical and epidural spine issues. The curved straps reduce cervical pin and the curved bottom pushes weight toward my back and reduces pressure on my epidural region. This bag has seriously done it all. I can put quite a lot into it and still feel like I’m carrying a kanken mini.

It’s my all-time favorite!

I’ve been searching for a bag that wasn’t too big, could fit my 15” laptop, and had different compartments for storing all of my random stuff. This bag does it all and the fabric is water repellent. It fits my personal laptop perfectly, but my work laptop has a border around the screen that’s a little bit thicker so the laptop barely fits in the pack. If you have a slightly larger than normal 15” laptop I would go with the Raven 28. Anyway, I’m not mad at that. It’s the perfect size and even full of stuff still has a slim profile on your back. I’m 5’8” and 185lbs for reference. I’d buy another one.
