Nice Pack but returned after one three day trek

The pack works great but based on the sales pitch,,,, that during Covid Ospray gave the their engineers complete freedom to design the best pack for the market. So okay great design and comfort definitely….. they used cheap plastic attachments hooks for, connections for the top accessory/travel pack. To fix the pack it would have been $60. Shipping back and forth for. $700.00 pack. Returned…

WOW,Blown Away

I am a man, but the man's torso was a little longer than I wanted so the Women's M/L was perfect, so I bought that one. I do not regret it for a second. It carries so well that even though I have to carry some heavy stuff like a full Bear Keg and lots of water and fuel, it was no problem. I couldn't believe over 40 pounds of stuff would feel like nothing on a 140lb 60 plus yr old body. There are a few things I would change like replacing the plastic "hardwear" with titanium or anodized aluminum hardware. I like the angle of the stretchy pockets too. Its very comfortable. The hip belt and the shoulder straps are so comfortable and I love the airflow on my back! If you have to carry quite a bit of stuff - like Winter backpacking in the Arctic, or that heavier bomb proof tent you love so much and don't want to feel the weight, this is for you.

An angel must have made this pack!

After trying five different packs (REI got my torso length wrong, TWICE) I finally hit the jackpot with this pack. It fits like a dream—and my 27lbs of gear feels like a feather, despite the bag weighing 6lbs on its own. It’s a gorgeous bag too, and I love that it comes with a cargo cover for checking as luggage on airplanes. I only wish it had a little more volume as I wasn’t able to fit everything inside—some things will have to find a home on the outside of the pack. Nonetheless, I really can’t imagine a better pack. Bonus—the straps are far better designed and way more comfortable that the ones on the Ariel—though that may be partly due to the wrong torso length. I hope Osprey will continue to make this bag!

Worth every penny!!!

I did the JMT with an Osprey Ariel. I did it a second time with the UNLTD. Night and day for convenience! The UNLTD gets a lot of hate for the price, but if you can afford it, it’s 10,000% worth it! The added front zipper makes packing and unpacking a breeze. The change in the location of the water bladder was brilliant. I got so dehydrated my first trip on the JMT because my water bladder was so hard to get to. I literally had to unpack most of my bag to get to it. The Osprey UNLTD solved that issue. I am able to access the water bladder without unpacking my entire bag. One of the previous reviews said that the buckles were cheap. In my opinion, the buckles aren’t cheap. They are made to keep the pack a little lighter. I haven’t broken a buckle yet. And if I do, Osprey will replace replace it for life! If you are backpacking on a budget this bag, maybe isn’t the one for you. If you can splurge on your equipment and enjoy something that makes packing and unpacking gear super convenient, but also wears weight more comfortable than lighter packs, this is definitely the one for you!

3D panel problem

I really wanted to like the backpack, it’s very well made, quality material, and nice color but the 3D Printed Fitscape:tm: Lumbar in the back was hurting my back from the first hour that I put the pack on, and it was loaded only to 30 lb. It felt like the 3 D construction was super hard and it was eating into my lower back, like a solid peace of plastic, creating a lot of pressure. Good that I tested it before the actual backpacking trip, otherwise I would have suffered lot’s of pain to my lower back from this lumbar. Interestingly, I can’t seam to find anyone else mention the same problem.

The “Rolls Royce” of Comfort!

Review: A powerhouse for comfort, durability, waterproofing and functionality! Imagine an Aston Martin DB5 with the comfort of a Rolls Royce. I’m a novice at hiking alone. For years I was equipped with 4 kids, bikes, paddle boards, a 9-folk tent, cooking equipment, airbeds etc - you get the picture ladies. So, of course I trekked 100km with this weighing in at around 20kg 🫣 I’m 61kg, 5ft 6. Well, lesson learned however this was phenomenal! Not one shoulder pinch, red mark or pain throughout. It was incredibly comfortable. I love it and will one day be passing it down to my beautiful daughter. There are only a few niggles - getting the 3L water bladder in it’s compartment was very difficult as was attaching it; I scratched my hand a few times - absolutely need a pump type thing - should come free with this 🙏 ;) I’ve hypermobile EDS so trying to get that darn clip secured was unfortunately really difficult. - would you consider allowing a power cable connection type thing? Although I wired mine in through so my battery pack was inside (protected from rain & cold) - just a minor upgrade? My kid’s school bag has it now although his phone is banned when he is in school BY ME 😂 It is handy, however I understand connections change frequently so… Thank you to the team who designed this. It truly is engineering excellence. I went for the S-M. I’ve a longer torso (my fella is 6ft4) and when I sit beside him we are not that different except I got short legs 😂 but this was perfect. Absolutely take your measurements before deciding on size. And register your bag! I think they provide a lifetime warranty for any potential repairs 😍
