Small things make a big difference

Overall the backpack is great, well made and functional. Very disappointed in the hip belt. Osprey used a small 1 inch waist belt instead of an appropriate one for the size and use of the backpack. A 2 in wide hip belt would have given a better use and feel and would not cut into the waist when loaded.

Osprey Talon Pro 40

Nice and adjustable, with an ability to set a short torso length, this was exactly what I needed.

Well made but is Lacking

This is a beautiful and well made pack. I own the first version of the talon 30 pro and love it, so i decided to try this out for a little bit larger day pack for long winter days. With a 19" torso I fall in-between sizes, so I bought both the L/XL and the S/M to find the better fit. The L/XL got return quickly. It was impossible to adjust where it sat correctly on my hips without my head hitting the back of the frame. I couldn't look up and it was even worse with the helmet on. The S/M fit much better when i got everything adjusted right, but i have had it a week and I am still unsure if im going to keep it for the following three reasons. 1. The hip belt straps are really small (1") and when I put 20lbs in the pack they are kind of uncomfortable. 2. The hip belt pockets are impossible to close one handed unless you have the compression straps tightened down all the way which is quite annoying. 3. There are zero attachment points on the outside of the pack. Which makes it difficult for attaching any equipment like helmets, snowshoes, mountaineering boots, etc. the old 30 pro i have had a cool external helmet attachment that would have been nice on this pack and it would have been nice to see a simple daisy chain outside the external stretch mesh pocket. If it were just 1 or even 2 of these if wouldn't be so hesitant, but for it being osprey's most expensive and durable daypack, It isnt very well thought out in my opinion.
