Zipper problems?
Wow. I am surprised to read that other people have had problems with the door zipper. I used this tent extensively in 2022 with no issues at all. I found the tent was perfect for two cots with a camp chair in the middle. Being able to sand up in it is awesome. The only reason I saw these other poor reviews is that I wanted to buy a second one. I'll see if the second one performs well, if not, I'll bring it back and change my review to one star.

Design is roomy but quality only fair.
The ALPS Camp Creek 4 tent is nice and roomy. Good for car camping but much too bulky and heavy for backpacking. The front door zipper is too light duty for the job. The first time we used the tent, the zipper came off the track on one side (under normal tension), and there is no way to restart it. Both ends of the zipper are covered. Poor design for that. Also, the tent poles showed rust and paint flaking off after first use. So quality is not what I had expected.

Nope. Return it on-time if the zipper goes.

This would be a good tent, except the door's zipper pops-off the seams. It happens when opening, closing, or just in the middle of the night. There's too much tension in the fabric. I used it four times, hoping the material would settle in, but didn't and instead it got worse and more frequent. Wish I had returned it with the year required. Had to drive back into town to buy a new tent in the middle of a camping trip and hail storm since it won't stay zipped, and often unlatched and had to be re-tracked onto the bottom zipper.

Major zipper failure :-(

Although this tent was easy to set up & we were pleased with its roominess, the tent door flap zipper failed right out of the gate. The zipper kept coming off the track right as it made the curve toward the top of the right side of the door flap. We managed to get it to zip shut each time by unzipping & rezipping it. But then, when a string wind blew through our camp the wind pressure popped the zipper and left our tent wide open to the elements :-( That time, while trying to rezip it, the zipper pull came completely off the tracks and we were left with an unsecured tent flap for the remainder of our stay :-/ We'll be returning the tent to REI.

Poor Zipper

First night..windy but nothing extreme. Zipper tangs pulled completely apart. The zipper head came off. Luckily we had needle nose pliers to semi repair it to get through the next day. Also be careful when opening the new box. Shipped box in a box. The second box is right against the new tent bag with no warning that when you cut the tape to open the box you will also slice your new tent bag wide open Duct tape does the trick to repair it, but now it's a brand new tent bag held together with duct tape. It is roomy, and for kids in the back yard in good weather it would be ok.

Do not buy this tent

Mine came from the factory missing the male end of one of the rain fly clips. As others have stated, the zipper will try to separate at the apex of the door curve. On my third use I found one of the fiberglass poles had split. Back to REI to goes.

Don't trust this tent

Because of Covid I was unable to use this tent until after the warranty date had expired. The first day of camping the door zipper started to separate. No matter how delicate we treated the zipper, how slowly and carefully we tried, by day 3 we had no door. We had to use clothes pins to sort of close it. The tent appears in all other aspects as satisfactory for the purpose, but the door zipper is weak and unsuitable for camping. The zipper on the bag it came in is far superior to the door zipper on this tent. Do not by this tent. I have been a loyal REI member since 1976 and this is my first purchase from REI that was bad. I still have and can use items I bought in 1976. This tent is just junk.

Built by someone who doesn't camp

Main door zipper failed the third time I zipped the door closed, teeth won't stay aligned which lost this review 2 stars. Overall setup wasn't hard for someone who's set up many styles of tent before but assembly instructions were lacking in common details like where to tie off the rainfly or which end of the upright poles goes down. Build quality isn't great, tent was very wobbly without the rainfly and the guy-lines only attach to the rainfly but don't come attached. Small details make me feel like this wasn't designed for people in the semi-casual camper range.

MAJOR DESIGN FAILURE

MAJOR design fail on this tent. We loved it when we first set it up. But the front “door” zipper separated, repeatedly, on the curved portion and we spent a night in the wind & rain relying on safety pins to keep the weather out :-( After we returned home, I checked other reviews and, sure enough, this is a common problem with this tent. Glad REI took it back and issued a full refund, but we're puzzled as to why REI would sell such an obviously flawed product in the first pace?!?
