Spacious but needs more air flow

I bought this as a weight saving change from a 2016 REI Kingdom 8 with a shed. Its intended use was for car camping and minimal portage canoe camping in BWCA for a family of 4 and dog all in one tent. This time, I wanted to cut the weight in half and maintain a large spacious tent - mainly for days where we are pinned inside from rain. Weather: Sun, torrential rain, 80 degrees PM, 55 degrees in AM, wind and calm. Pros: Roomy and nice to have standing height. Lots of internal mesh storage. Internal loops good for hanging gear or drying lines. Setup time is <5mins for 1 person with novice helper. Harder, but possible to set up alone. Guy lines are easy to tension. Stakes are strong. It is lightweight compared to any other 6 person tent. Really the only lighter weight option on market. In torrential rain, we were bone dry. Cons: Hot and humid with rainfly on - there is one small overhang/layered vent on the rain fly opposite the storage shed side and it requires a guy line to pull it open it form the outside. Even then, it does not open very far when the rest of the fly is also tensioned. No vent on the other side without unzipping the storage area, which then eliminates its utility. Although this makes it really rain proof, it eliminates any possibility of flow-through venting. The screen mesh on the sides is integrated in the door, but it is proportionally small and only up high, greater than 3 feet form the ground - Just makes it a bit more airtight. The other issue with this lack of flow-through is that in the cool morning, there is a massive amount of condensation on the underside of the fly from 4 adults and a dog breathing for 8 hours. First person out of tent unzips of hits the fly and it drops on everyone else sleeping. Recommendations for improvement. Better airflow design or larger screen door for venting Include a footprint at this price point

High Quality Tent with One Major Design Flaw

I want to love this tent as all the parts seem very high quality (material, poles, zippers, tall enough for my 6'2" husband to stand, etc), but there is VERY little air ventilation when the fly is on. I don't mind just having one door, but the design doesn't account for any ventilation (minus a very small 'window' opposite the door side) when you have the rain fly on. We live in Colorado so when we camp on the western slope or UT, etc, it gets HOT but when it rains, you need the fly. It also helps to keep sand out when it's windy. If you camp in cooler temps all the time, this would be a truly fantastic tent, but if you're looking for a tent that breathes when the rain fly is on, I'd go for something different.

Could handle a tornado!!!

This tent is very easy to set up and very sturdy! Very well built and great ventilation. The amount of mesh is perfect for viewing the scenery. This tent will last years with this fabric. Very high-quality! We did use the universal footprint. I feel like that is a great addition and adds more durability. Very high marks!

Great tent, poles brake

Tent is great but the poles break. Tent works perfect, set up is easy and very roomy. But the second time we set it up the tent the main support pole broke. And getting an answer or repair from MSR has been a total hassle. I’ve been camping in tents for 40 plus years. This is the first time I’ve had a pole break. My advice if your buying this tent is to bring zip ties and duck tape. Which is what saved our camping trip.

Awesome Canoe tripping tent!

I’ve got 33 nights in the Habitude 6 since we bought it last year. Camped on long trips in the BWCA and Quetico. I was stormed poured on more times than I can remember this year and never had a leak through the rainfly! I do use an inner liner and would with all tents since water can pressure wick up through the floors of any tent. Thanks Cliff Jacobson! We’ve really enjoyed this tent now through some serious use. Design is perfect for Canoe tripping comfortably with 3 to 4 people! Ryan

Easy to set up light

Easy to set up light weight I would recommend this tent across the board. It nice to be able to stand up as well while we only experienced a small amount of rain on our family trip it kept us dry we will give it a rest next summer. With that said good night and sleep well in your own habitat

Best tent for PNW

We love our tent! Spacious and high enough for 6 ft husband to stand up in. Lots of space for two adults plus dog, space for bags inside and all the stuff. Love that it is totally waterproof with the fly up and zips down all the way to keep rain away from the entrance. Small vestibule handy to keep shoes outside and dry. We are first time campers and getting older, wanted something cozy and comfy and totally waterproof. Check, check, check!

Fantastic Car Camping Tent

I bought this last year when I wanted a bit more room for the family when car camping, but without sacrificing stability in windier situations. This has proven to be much stronger than many of the other large dome style tents, and you can stand up inside. I would recommend buying and adding additional line to the extra guy-out points for the most security in high winds (but I’ve done that with every tent I’ve ever owned). The other reviews’ concerns about ventilation with the rain fly on seem a bit overstated. Ventilation is typically a concern with rainflies on in many situations in any tent. I own other tents with more mesh and in high winds I’ve experienced a lot of fine dirt/sand making it under the fly and into the tent. This design has eliminated that for me.

Amazing in the rain

Amazing tent. Setup the 1st time on our camping trip. Didn't even pre-set it up before leaving. Didn't even watch a youtube video. Super easy to setup. 2nd day was super windy and it didn't move at all. 3rd day it rained all day and night and stayed completely dry the entire time. An extreme amount of room for 2 adults and 2 kids. All around best tent I have ever had!

Fantastic family car camping tent

I had a REI Kingdom 6 for car camping with the family. The size was great and convenient for our family of 3. However, it was awful in the wind and even properly guyed out, if the wind changed direction it would just buckle. So I looked for another option and settled on this. Pitching it is super easy. It can be done with one person, but two are ideal. It honestly doesn't take more than 5 minutes to get it pitched. I spend more time guying out the lines than pitching it. I agree with others that it can get warm with the fly on. More screen on the tent would have helped, but it's not a deal breaker for us. Have used it in one thunderstorm that poured during the night for a few hours and remained bone dry inside. Have yet to use in anything considered windy, but during the thunderstorm we could hear the wind gusting and the tent was rock solid. It's not going to survive 50mph onslaught, but I feel VERY confident with it in ~25mph gusts. It also packs down reasonably small for a tent its size. Overall this is great for a little "luxury" when car camping with the family. Highly recommended.

High quality, very spacious, easy set up

My 5 and 7 year old can set this tent up with just a little help for the areas that they can't reach. We love it for family camping with 4 of us. Leaves lots of room for our gear and for the kids to play inside during rain. Spent several days in it at Big Bend for spring break, right before the quarantines.
