Ion front light
Nicely built, good beam spread, multiple useful modes. I find the main switch a little fiddly
Light stays on Bike!
My Nite Rider kept falling off. One could easily bump the release and it could come off shortly after. Like at a stop light, leaning forward to press for crosswalk, and then hit a bump while riding across, with cars waiting to turn after you! This light's release tab is far under the light and would take more than a bump to release it. Both lights have code you have to learn. This one take two presses to turn on, and a long press to turn off. My rear light is much simpler press on, press to change to blink, press again for next setting, press until it goes off. Both lights were powerful, the NiteRider lasted a very long time with little use, until the last couple of years. This light is brand new. I ride during the day, use flash so I can be seen, and so battery lasts longer.
Lightn it up
I am really enjoying this bontrager light, no problems so far, operates as expected. A good quality light
A brighter, safer commute.
Nice and bright. I was disappointed in the light quality from another headlight. The light from this is excellent. It's easy to remove and take along to prevent theft or when you need to recharge it. I find it's easier to access the charge port if you slide the light out of the holder. 4 stars for short battery life and need for frequent recharge. Also the light switch is a bit hard to manipulate. Has the better beam made my commute safer? Absolutely. So I guess it's worth some trade offs.
Very bright light
Have had this light for more than a year and it is very bright even on lowest setting, and lasts a long time. Easy mounting on upright bike handlebars. Recharges quickly.
Avid road biker.
After using several less expensive lights, the Bontrager ION Comp R is a game changer. With several operating functions to choose from and ease of charging and mounting, I am extremely pleased with the quality, reliability and performance.
Disappointing
Great light! very bright. Then it stopped charging after a year. never dropped. never got wet. $100 light that only lasts for a year under normal/less than normal use is diappointing.
Good for a whiles
Mine stopped working just after the year, I wouldn’t buy again for the price. I’d go with something cheaper, it’s also quite the larger profile.
