What I expect from a Garmin product
No, I do not recommend this product
I always record my bike rides and purchased the Varia Vue based on the pledge of increased battery life, 4K video, stabilization and integration with my Garmin Edge computer and Garmin radar tail light. Build quality is good and light is bright although I would prefer a camera only device. I used it on appx 5 rides but grew increasingly frustrated with the functionality and poor video quality. I did not expect it to be as high a quality as an action camera but even in 4K the video quality is substandard. Apparently uses a small sensor. Pairing with bluetooth is fussy. I set the light to off (both manually and using the IOS Varia app) to improve battery life only to find the light randomly switching on during a ride. The IOS app is okay but I ride with a Garmin Edge computer, not an iPhone. The Garmin Edge widget provides almost no control and is difficult to access throught the Edge's menus. Video stabilization is minimal. Sorry Garmin this is a miss especially at this price point. My cheapo car dash cams have better video than this.
