This light is solid. It feels sturdy and well made. Only downside is battery life. It lasts for about three 30 minute commutes before needing a recharge. Would buy again.
This is the best bicycle light that I've ever owned and I've owned several. It tells me when it needs to be charged as well as the rear light that I paired with the front light. I ride during the day and this light gives excellent warning of where I am by it's flashing mode. Great light.
I wanted so very badly to like this light. It's a sturdy build, powerful, ingenious light pattern, syncs with other lights, helpful battery meter, etc. However, the battery life is so remarkably bad, that it renders all the other strengths moot. It's reduces an otherwise 5-star product to 1 or 2 stars. I cannot recommend this product. For example, coming off the charger with a full battery, I could get to work (~25 mins) on day flash/strobe and return home 8-9 hours later (another ~25 mins) using steady low beam. By the time I returned home, the battery indicator would show two amber lights, suggesting 20%-40% battery life remaining. If I rode home using stead high beam, the batter indicator would show one amber light, suggesting 5%-20% batter life remaining. In either case, if I didn't charge it over night, it would be dead in the morning before setting off (despite not being used at all over night). If I didn't use the light in the morning and only used it on steady low in the evening, the battery would die before I could get to work in the morning. Ultimately, I was having to charge it at all times when not using it -- each night before a ride, and during the day while at work -- just to ensure it didn't die on me during a ride. Far too high maintenance relative to other lights, despite how silly that may sound. I expect better of a $150 light, and I expect better of Trek.
After occasional use over 2 years, it stopped holding a charge. I need a reliable, bright light for occasional transportation use. Really disappointing to spend so much money on essentially a flashlight and have it stop working with hardly any use.
