Rated 5 out of 5 by from A headlamp above the rest It was time to upgrade my old Black Diamond headlamp and I bought a competing brand based on slightly better specs like brightness, weight, and burn time. I returned the other brand immediately after testing it out. The slightly better specs did not justify Black Diamond's superior features---like adjustable brightness, button lock while packed away, battery-life indicator, and better waterproofing---and overall attention to details that I think matter to outdoorsy folks. I don't plan to stray from Black Diamond headlamps again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than i could ever ask it to be!!! When i bought this light i was i need of a new light to go caving with in lava beds national monument. I had been looking at lights on rei's website for a couple of weeks and decided this was the light i wanted. I went in and bought the light the day before the trip. When i got home i pulled it out of the box and went to put the batteries in. I immediately found that the battery hatch opens sideways which is awesome because it gives you a lot more space to get the batteries out. Also be warned this is not a light you can just open the box and click through the functions. It is way to awesome to be that simple, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FULLY! Their are ten fuctions that are all accessed differently. However onece you get the button functions memorized this lights functionality in every situation will blow you away!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful! Although I've had this headlamp only a few days, every time I turn it on I'm amazed just how much light it throws for such a lightweight headlamp. It's incredible! I like the optics as well. The center of the beam is intense and tapers smoothly outwardly. If you look carefully, in the center of the beam there is a pale yellowish area. Possibly, that was done to simulate natural light. At any rate, it's so subtle you may never notice. It has a lot of features I like: It remembers the light level when you turn it off, so you don't have to cycle through the settings when you turn it back on. It has a charge meter to let you know when you turn it on how much (approximate) charge is left. All light modes are dimmable, including the red light. It's a great value even at it's full retail price. It's just plain powerful, lightweight, functional and well featured. A great value!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic light source! My wife and I each purchased a spot headlamp prior to our recent camping trip to Joshua Tree NP. The 300 lumins made all the difference, especially in comparison to our older 150 headlamps. In addition, it was comfortable to wear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok for night hiking So I bought this product to do a solo overnight hike. It works great and super bright. The only problem I have sensitive touch on the side of the lights that automatically makes it right or Dim. Just the slightest touch will make it bright or make it all the way down. That's the only annoying part about this light
