Black Diamond  Storm Headlamp

This is a headlamp, which is a light with a belt, that goes around your head or around a hard hat. It is meant to light the way, so you and others can see where you are going. These are great to have in an emergency or in a major storm when you lose electricity. This head lamp is very bright, and it contains a three- year rechargeable Li-ion battery. I do recommend this product, and I suggest everyone have at least one of these at home, for emergencies. I should suggest putting one of these in your ‘Go’ bag.

The beam is so strong and powerful that we were able to see 20 feet ahead of us! Live the strap too - comfortable to wear! Love that there are more than one more too and made of good material!!!

Purchased this headlamp after getting back into caving. While I would prefer a swappable battery, battery banks are now part of my gear load out for most trips and pass through charging prevents a wait for the unit to recharge. Button system was intuitive for me and I appreciate the features. All in, a great headlamp for a more intensive user.

The User Interface changes are welcome; there is now 3 stepped output modes in addition to stepless dimming, turning it back on and using stemless dimming does not cause it to jump straight to maximum output. Activating/deactivating RGB requires a 2 second hold on the mode button-this is good because it "locks" into RGB and prevents accidentally activating white light (which was possible with previous models). The headband is comfy and it appears the mount is replaceable-which is good as this was frequently a failure point on my older models. Overall quality of the plastic appears to be better (had many older models break due to poor quality plastic), but not as good as Petzl or Fenix. However it still lacks any regulation so it will dim almost continuously over its runtime so the specified runtimes are somewhat misleading (even if technically correct), the LED has a purple ish hue at lower output modes, it takes absolutely hours to charge and the angle adjustment isn't stiff enough to stop it tipping down when running due to the weight. Some minor changes like faster charging, a better, warmer LED and a stiffer angle adjustment would be welcome improvements.
