Black Diamond  Distance LT 1100 Headlamp

Disappointing product and non-existent support The Black Diamond Distance LT 1100 looks good on paper, but the experience falls apart once something goes wrong. Despite the advertised 3-year guarantee, there is no repair service, no replacement parts available, and support’s only solution is to buy a new headlamp. For a premium product, this is unacceptable. 0/10 — would not recommend the product or the support.

Like the overall concept and many features, including the spare battery capacity to rotate them out. However two major design flaws: the charging port is uncovered leaving it susceptible to dust in dry air, and more importantly, the charging port is on the light unit not the battery itself = you must have the battery attached to the light to charge the battery. This eliminates the ability to rotate batteries and have one charging while the other one is on the light. Overall great performance otherwise, but counterintuitive on the design.

I've used this so much, as a mechanic, camping, walks, cooking, hikes, rock climbing and more. It's bright and last a long time. Ove had it for over a year and will definitely buy another one if mine where to brake, but as much as I've banged this one up, I don't think that would happen

I like the brightness and spot+diffusion, tricolor LEDs, swiveling lamp(in theory), function of headband. Really don't like the color temperature of white LEDs(greenish tint), fragile clear lens that has broken on two of my headlamps from gentle handling. I even put a soft screen protector on my second one, and noticed it broke again after gently setting it down on a wooden table. No rock climbing or rugged use, never dropped, yet the clear lens get spider cracks looking at it wrong. Also, a glitch with the blue LED staying on after 1)turning off with power-tap enabled, 2) locking 3) pressing ‘on’ button. Build quality is hit n miss, my second lamp swivel has resistance and will not stay in the fully down position.

I found the instructions with international symbols somewhat difficult especially for battery replacement, I overlooked the release lever as I didn't see it at first (step 1 of replacement instruction -- see lock symbol on paper inst, but it doesn't show the lever, seen on side view), it needs to be turned out away from the body of the light then it was simple. I'll attempt to load a photo of lever (which has no symbol) at top near corner.

I just got this along with a couple replacement batteries. Super bright so I am pumped for that. I realize it is brand new, so I am tempering my thoughts with that in mind. I am a longtime BD equipment user, lights, poles, etc. With that being said, my first thought with this setup is "Why tho?" on only being able to charge the battery through the headlamp itself. I am stoked on the change to USB C, despite hosing myself on all my other BD rechargeable for now. Please make a charging cord adapter to be able to charge a loose battery without the headlamp itself. I look forward to using it. Will probably just end up buying a second headlamp to be able to charge on the fly for multi-day adventures.

I think it will be great in the field if the various functions are accessible. Unfortunately I find the buttons for the functions only intermittently reliable; part of the problem may be following the exact sequence in the instructions ( I was having difficulties locking it in the off position, even with using implements [pens] to compensate for problems of impaired hand coordination and sensation, but successful today) therefor I've taken a picture of the universal symbol instructions on my smart phone for future reference in the Field, and may need to have a lower threshold for use than I thought necessary. It may take a lot of practice to learn all the functions or you may accidently end up in a frustrating loop by using trial and error to learn them; I found my self with flashing lights suggestive of the safety light or SOS function. Regardless, the buttons could have larger touch contacts with greater separation between the two for those with challenges similar to mine.

I think it's the ultra-high battery replacement headlentons.

the process of removing and replacing a battery, in general, should be easy and obvious, but in the case of a headlamp must be an unambiguously simple procedure that you can do blindfolded in the dark - which, unfortunately, it is most assuredly ... not. the end result being a great light for which you need another flashlight to align the pin and still fiddle with it to get the battery to seat... resulting in an unforgivably bad design...

I love this light it is wildly bright and all the functions are amazing, I use it around the house , hunting , at work during rescue ops and marine patrol at night it’s compact and very comfortable !
