Great for belay/rappel
I bought this for a mountaineering class as my other locking carabiners were too small for rappel (made it difficult to get all the ropes in during extended rappel with a sling). The larger pear shape makes it great for not only rappel but also belay. I used this one to replace a Vaporlock Screwgate because the Vaporlock was too small to manage the ropes effectively. The Rocklock has more space and is easier to handle (with or without gloves).
Just what the experts ordered
Great carabiner. I was expecting green but the product itself is satisfying. Use with my atc belay device. Easy on, easy off. The lock mechanism stays in place.
no change in 20 years
Im sure this biner is strong & solid but (ordered online sight unseen) its really fat (in diameter). its the exact same 'biner as I already had from 20 years ago. I needed one that fit through the rappel/hardware chains of most modern stations. this one does not, or when it does its a wedged fit. Im disappointed that BD has not seemed to keep up with a better selection of small framed light carabiners.
Way tough canyoneering biner
I've used these for several years, guiding 100 days a year in southern Utah slot canyons. The ropes are often wet, and coated in uber-abrasive quartz sand that can grind a third of the way through many rappel carabiners in a single, hard day. Rocklocks last considerably longer than similarly priced competitors such as Petzl, Camp, or Trango. The metal seems harder and more resistant to grooving. So, me likeee.

Screwgate cheap
I am not sure if the one I received was defective or if all of the carabiners are like this, but the screw lock didn't seem to lock completely. I would be afraid that it would easily be forced open if there was a lot of force on it. I have several other types of locking carabiners and I have never felt uncomfortable with the locking gate on those. This one seemed cheap and I will be returning.
Rock Solid/ Lightweight
This locker is always attached to my belay device. Because of the roundness it make for a very smooth rappel. Much better than the other lightweight lockers out there, there are no ridges to add friction. Great size for use with a Munter. I really like this one. I choose a screw gate because they work well in the cold, snow and ice. You never have to fumble with it or take your gloves off.

for canyoneering
I use this for canyoning. I've always loved black diamond everything for the sport and this is a great carabiner. Just used it most recently on a big water canyon and it is fine. The only thing I wished it had was a safety lock red line around the black clasp to verify locking, but other than that this is great and I feel safe on it. I like the colors too!
Black Diamond Rocklock
Good looking, very practical already in use, makes any body life much more easy, very happy with this purchase
It's the workhorse of carabiners!
The RockLock Screwgate Carabiner is lightweight, tough, easy to operate, and an overall great locker for canyoneering and climbing. I have several of these for building anchors, belaying, and other purposes. Sure, there are fancier carabiners on the market, but RockLock gets the job done and works great, and that's good enough for me.
Great Carabiner for Most Uses
I have been using this carabiner for a belay device mostly, but it is a seriously great locker. Nice a beefy, with a large gate opening makes for an easy to use biner. I am using this carabiner with my Edelrid Mega Jul and a 10.2 mm rope, both of which seem to work pretty well with each other. 5/5 would recommend.
