Black Diamond  RockLock Magnetron Carabiner

I have wanted one of these magnetic carabiners for a while! My partner got one a few years ago and the carabiner has been unavailable for quite some time. I have always used a carabiner with a gate for my belay device (ATC-Pilot) and wish this carabiner also had a gate. It is also a little large for my hands (for reference I wear a size 4.5 ring). The magnet is strong! My partner's magnetron is a skosh weaker than this new one, so it's good to know it will hold up but get a bit easier to open. I paid way too much for the carabiner, but it's awesome. More colors please Black Diamond :)

So glad that this biner is back. I love using it for belaying and rapping because it is less bulky than a traditional twistlock carabiner, and is even a hair lighter than the Triple Lock. You can really tell the difference when you need to spin in around (like when belaying from the shelf of an anchor) and do not need to deal with the fat locking mechanism on the gate getting stuck. Pick one up!

I wanted the Magnetron since I saw the advertisement for it. I finally got my hands on one and wow!! I used to use a triple twist lock carabiner and the Magnetron blows that one out of the water. It’s so easy to use and extremely secure. I don’t worry about my Neox coming off the carabiner. Highly recommend this!!

Tried my buddy’s older magnetron and decided to give it a go! Super easy to use. I don’t love a lot of things but I do love the magnetron!

I have the previous generation magnetron and absolute love it. Its hands down the quickest locking action you can find on the market. Even after many years of use, it has not lost it locking ability. When I saw that they were coming out with a new version, I had to snag one for myslef and my wife! I like the bright pink gate color and the updated texture for the magnet latches. Definitely grab one before they become a hopeful return in the future.

I’ve waited 2 weeks for you all to ship this out. I spoke with a rep earlier this week and was told it was on back order until Sept 1 (which I said was fine and I could wait) and just now I get an email saying my order is cancelled! Meanwhile your site still says “in-stock” and “add to cart”.

You canceled my order after a month, then emailed me to tell me I should order soon some it was low inventory. And when added to cart it says out of stock. Glad your focus was fighting your own employees rather than technology. 🙄

I was a little uncertain about the Magnetron at first because it seemed TOO easy to be truly safe. However, after MANY attempts to open the gate "accidentally" with no success, this has become my absolutely new favorite carabiner. It's easy to use and visually stunning. Almost everyone who sees me with it has asked to play with it.

Best locking carabiner I've ever used. The carabiner shape is perfect for smooth rappelings, great as a master point. Locking mechanism is extremely easy to use and bomb proof. Only downside is I only use them in the summer due to the magnets potentially interacting with avy beacons.

I have been hoping for years that BD would bring back the Magnetron and they finally did it. It’s a bit pricey, but it is my favorite closure mechanism. Now I hope they bring back the GridLock and VaporLock versions to give me some backups for my old and abused ones
