Now perfect with the Grigri

I understand the old version of this had issues with cross-loading the carabiner while using the Grigri. In this improved version, the built-up rim keeps the Grigri from slipping down the spine, and the gate at the bottom keeps the biner facing outward while attached to your belay loop. The triple lock gate is very smooth and easy once you get used to it, and very reliable.

consider the screw gate version

On paper this biner is exactly what I've been wanting for the past couple years. Quick and easy triple action gate, great ergonomics, dual anti-cross load features, good weight / size, and I even like the colors. Unfortunately, about 2 months after purchasing, the sleeve no longer works properly. For those unfamiliar with triple action lockers, to open the gate you have to slide the sleeve up past the locking pin, then rotate the sleeve in a twisting motion, then pull the gate open. When I do these steps and attach my belay device then let go of the gate to close it, the gate closes, but doesn't twist far enough for the sleeve to slide back down into it's original position. This could be a fluke, but it's definitely worth considering getting the screw gate version rather than triple action. For context, I climb at least once a week outside, 5-10 pitches per session. I've used this mostly for lead belaying and belaying from above on multi-pitch routes. My personal anchor has had the same Petzl triple action carabiner on it for a couple years now and has NEVER had this issue. I really like black diamond carabiners. All my trad gear have miniwires, I have a ton of their screw gates, and even have a bunch of their quick draws. This is the only one I've had a problem with.

Great Belay Carabiner

This carabiner is great because it prevents crossloading.
