"Portable"?
I was so excited to get this hammock stand. It looks sturdy and attractive, and SEEMED to be portable. The box even says it packs down to the size of a "picnic basket". But I couldn't even wrangle the huge box it came in out of my car, so I opened it in my car to see how the parts fit and how it they would collapse into the size of a picnic basket. I don't know what kind of picnic baskets the people at ENO use, but each of the tubes in the stand is about 4' long. Portable? Maybe, especially if you have a large vehicle. The size of a picnic basket? No freaking way. I'm returning it.
Horrible paint job/quality contol missed this one!
Was excited to get, but very disappointed in finished product. Notified REI immediately & have not heard from them until I recieved this email about a review. I'd return but frieght expense, & taking to closest REI three hour drive.
Solid, not portable, nice home furniture
Intro: Overall, I'm using this hammock frame/stand as a piece of furniture in my home. I couldn't find a decent solution to hang a hammock in my master bedroom with only one wood-frame wall and the other two cinder-block surrounding the hang area. I had considered drilling into the roof and into a wood-frame wall, but my wife opted I just get the solo pod and alleviate any other risk factors. Rating: I'm basing a five-star rating on my usage application as a piece of solid furniture in my home. It looks like it is built very well (sturdy), a decent build quality, easy to assemble (about ten minutes to include unpacking) and is aesthetically acceptable as furniture in a home opposed to other flimsy and displeasing looking frames I considered. I also got the soloPod due to known compatibility with their hammocks. Considerations: I can't speak for long term outdoor use as that's not my application. I'd be hesitant to leave any piece of steel outside due corrosion regardless of being powered coated (this is a nice olive-green color). I'd recommend the ENO Nomad frame released in 2017 for outdoor use (not to be left in the elements) and portability (Nomad weighs 15 lbs and can be broken down easily into a compact size). The Solopod comes in around 50-60lbs. Indoor use is my recommendations for full-time use (leaving the frame out and assembled for daily use). The frame is about 10.5' long (3-4’ wide), so keep this in mind if you are placing this in a bedroom. The SoloPod has plastic-like feet on the bottom that felt substantial and shouldn't break-down (e.g. like rubber) over time. One other observation is that the frame "pulls and settles" when sitting/lying in it due to it assembling in sections. Other than that, it's VERY sturdy and doesn't budge under load and swing. Conclusion: I’m glad to have an alternative solution for a hammock compatible with Eno products and of substantial build qualities. This is one of the best hammock stands on the market and I’d recommend it to my family and friends without hesitation… it’s pricey, but you’re getting your moneys worth compared to the competition.
My DoubleNest's New Best Friend
I've actually been using a cheap stand from my local department store for a few seasons now. Because it's sized to fit longer, spreader-bar hammocks, I've had to rig my ENO with some extra webbing in order to make it fit. When I saw that ENO was making a hammock stand specific to parachute style hammocks, I took the plunge. As one reviewer said, the construction is heavy-duty and feel very quality, much more so than any other hammock stand I've ever used. It set up in minutes using quick connect sections (nice!) and looks great on my back deck. It allows for a perfect hammock pitch and now I only have to take two steps out my back door to be in nirvana.
I'm swinging! I'm in the house, and I'm swinging!
Beautiful, well built design. It immediately replaced both my couch and my bed. Seriously. I'm an avid hammock camper, and I'd haul this beast to the beach or to a field where no trees are to be found to hammock camp without hesitation. It's heavy, but so what! It goes together and comes apart in a snap. The pieces will lay flat in my car trunk no problem. My ENO Double Nest fits perfectly, and I suspect my Hennessy Jungle Hammock will too. With a little ingenuity, I guarantee I can even string an acceptably taut rainfly on this thing. I'm sleeping in it tonight... in my living room. Yeah baby!
Strong, sturdy, and portable!
Good hammock trees can be hard to find everywhere you go. This hammock stand is amazing, it was easy to put together by myself while still feeling super sturdy with my weight (not the skinniest) as well as super balance where I can get in and out of my hammock with ease and not worry about it toppling over at all. I can enjoy my hammock in my backyard, break it down and take it camping, or break it down and store it for winter. A hammockers dream come true.
This was exactly what I expected.
We made a lot of children very happy this weekend with this hammock stand! We have no trees at La Jolla Canyon group campsite and I wanted to bring my eno double hammock! This did the trick! It's 60 pounds. It's inconvenient. It doesn't come with a convenient travel case. They don't let you know the dimensions in the specs to enable you to buy one. OTher than that, it's beyond wonderful! Sturdy, beautiful, pretty easy to drag around! I highly recommend that you talk someone you know into buying this expensive heavy item and invite them to camp with you!!! Ha ha!
Awesome
I love this thing. It does take up a little space though...I use it in my office when I'm working 12 days straight, I bring it home over the off days for the kids and I to use. It is very stable and definitely can support 375-400 pounds. I tested it and had some one hop in with me :) You won't be disappointed.
Perfect music festival stand!!
I bought this to take to Bonnaroo with me. It was absolutely perfect!! I also tried out the nomad stand, which is much lighter, but this stand is super sturdy and made my first stay at Bonnaroo so comfortable! It's definitely not a hiking stand. The parts are extremely heavy. So it's best for car camping or to use on your back porch. Im going to leave this set up on my balcony and can't wait to use it again next year!
Great Buy!
My husbands job brought us from the Texas hill country to the Texas desert. Even the “parks” don’t have a place to hang. Purchased this stand for the backyard! Just set it up tonight and used it for about an hour. So far absolutely love it! Hammocking is my relaxation and now I have it back! Very sturdy and super easy to put together. I put it together by myself. I was even able to score the stand with a 20% off coupon.
