Disappointed

Got this from REI last year to go with my Vulcan under quilt. Used both on a 4 night Boy Scouts trip recently. First 3 nights I stuffed the Vesta in a cheap 50 degree sleeping bag with an overnight low of 30 degrees and stayed completely warm. Last night the low was 39 degrees so I ditched the sleeping bag for the Vesta and Vulcan only. Wore thermal underwear and heavy wool socks and woke up cold at 4am and had to unpack the sleeping bag. The Vesta is high quality and light weight but for the price you pay I would recommend a good sleeping bag instead. I think the Vulcan under quilt is absolutely necessary but would not recommend the Vesta simply due the high price for a higher temperature range than advertised.

Good value in a warm top quilt

Good value, lives up to temperature rating, a full pound lighter than similar temperature sleeping bags
