In Love with this backpack
This is the backpack of my dreams. I did the research online and then went in to REI during the pre-black-friday sale and as a member got the 20% off (I always want to see the backpack in person before buying). It's super-comfortable (sized for women makes a big difference) and has all the straps you want. The chest strap is adjustable to put where you want it. Organizer pocket is great, laptop part is well protected and enough room for my other stuff (lunch, books for school, etc). Nice reflective features. I worried that the open flap top would be a problem in the rain, but I was in a full-on storm and no issues. The water beads off as if the material were water-repllent but I'm not sure if it is. The exterior fabric will stay wet for a bit, but the lining is heavy-duty water-proof so no problems with your stuff getting wet (and the fabric just looks so much better than the rain repellent kind). It's expensive, but I'm thinking it's worth the money.
I love my Flapjill
I bought my Flapjill 5years ago and I've been using it almost daily since. I am continually amazed at how practical it is for everyday use. I carry it to work and it holds my tablet, wallet, and various other things I need for daily life. I have used it as a carry-on for many flights over the years. I am also impressed at how well it has held up over the years. The color is still a vibrant magenta with just the gray accent stitching starting to fade.

My Favorite Pack for Work
This is my go to pack for my weekday adventures to the office and around town. I have the Desert Tan and love the cyan blue interior lining, as it is easy to find what is in the bottom of my bag. I was worried the Desert Tan color would pick up dirt easily but it still looks like new 3 months later. I also love the fabric, it looks classy and has a nice feel to the hand. I walk to the library often and carry a small Chromebook with me, the pack carries extremely well with the added weight. The shoulder straps do not bind or dig into my shoulders. I decided to take the removable webbing hipbelt off but like the option to utilize it later if needed. I love this pack so much I bought my husband a FlapJack Pack (he really likes his as well).

I wish I could do a commercial for this bag!
I had the original FlapJill and Osprey replaced it after it wore out. (Some students have too many books!) The new version is even better. There are many compartments to stay organised and all the zippers for them are high quality. The single buckle is easier to open. The shoulder straps are far more comfortable than any other backpack I've tried. I highly recommend Osprey to friends and family, and their guarantee makes it an easy choice.

Fantastic backpack!
This is my second Flapjill pack, after my first--an older model--was replaced by Osprey (thanks, guys!) when it started to show premature signs of wear. Though this newer model is definitely a little heavier than the last pack, I love that it is extremely durable. It has held up to daily use from my commute (via bike or on foot) in town, to overnight trips, to flights around the world, to hiking and collecting mushrooms as I wade through dense forest. It does well in the rain, thanks to its construction and materials. My fuchsia pack--striking but professional, I think--still looks like new! I initially settled on this backpack because I am a smaller woman with a shorter torso, and I am extremely happy with the way this pack fits. While it could easily be adjusted to fit much taller women, the bag on its smallest settings fits me perfectly. The chest and waist straps help to distribute the load when I'm carrying many books and my computer, or a heavy load of water on a long hike. I only wish that Osprey had kept the whistle function on the buckle that was part of the last model. I thought that was an excellent addition and I do miss it on this pack.

My portable office
I bought this pack originally looking for something I could use to transport my laptop and sundry items between work and home on days I chose to bike. My route is through the forest and can be muddy. This pack is so nice looking that I didn't want to muck it up, so it quickly became my everyday pack for driving to work and business travel instead. It fits so much stuff in it that I call it my portable office. The side zip pocket fits my laptop's power pack, power adapter and mini speaker; while the mail compartment easily fits my laptop (12.2"), spiral notebooks, computer headphones and other odds and ends. The bottle holder on the side is also useful for mini my umbrella. The smaller zip pocket fits my wallet, phone, glass case and pens. When I'm visiting HQ, I just carry the backpack between meetings rather than juggling computer, phone and notebook. I've traveled heavily by car, train and plane with this bag for two years now and it still looks great inside and out. (Mine is black with turquoise lining.) I was skeptical originally of the fact that items in in the large compartment are only secured by the flap and one strap, but it closes tightly and I've never had anything fall out. The smaller zippered compartment has a handy key chain holder. And the top handle conceals another small zippered pocket for quick access to my office badge.
