Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great improvement over round bars Put these on our 2015 Forester and they work great. Installation was very easy, and they are nice and secure. They are also much quieter than the old round bars. If you are getting excessive noise with these, I suggest moving them forward or back to see if it makes a difference. This might not be practical with a short roof, but the Forester has a long roof line and moving the bars back as far as possible gives us great bar spread but also great wind noise reduction. We can drive with the moonroof open too and the wind noise is fine. Gas mileage is great too, dropping by maybe 1 mpg versus not having bars on at all. I like the Whispbar so much that I'm going to install a pair on our Crosstrek. I just wish they weren't so expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly Quiet Installed on Jetta Sportwagen several weeks ago, and can't tell that they are there. The way that they attach to the existing rails gives the bars a very low profile that makes them look like the car was designed with them. There is no additional noise that either my wife or I can detect. We don't have the moon roof option, so I don't know if having one of those open would make a difference. Seem secure. Plan on using them mostly for surfboards.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I have an 2013 BMW X5. I returned my BMW crossbars on the basis of the promos on these bars and Yakima's reputation. (I have had nothing but Yakima roof systems on my cars for over 20+ years.) These do not work as advertised, at least on my vehicle. If I want to open my sunroof, even around town at 40 mph, I cannot reasonably talk on my cell phone or listen to music. At highway speeds forget it--sunroof or no bars. As I carry sports equipment several times a week it is not really practical for me to take the bars on and off every time I need them. I thought the science made sense when I read the promos but it does not work as advertised, at least on my vehicle. Be forewarned. I am very disappointed and would not recommend them to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet system I bought these for my Cayenne. They look like factory cross bars. I purchased the side rails (arrow bars) off eBay and got these to go with it. It's a great combination. The only bummer with the Yakima Whispbar is it's not compatible with the Hullavator.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Whisper Quiet- Same as Yakima Rounds Took out my Yakima rounds for these and the noise was the same . . . not thrilled. 2013 Subaru Forester is my toy carrier. May try on Lexus just to see if its the car and not the bar. If these were not advertised as "whisper" I would not give it such a low rating, as they work, they are just not "whisper" at all.

Is each side of the bar with a lock? If so then shouldn't there be 4 locks. If it is comes with only two the bars will just be pried off. Please clarify?

Asked by: Michael S
You only need two locks on this because the locks create a rigid non-bending connection so it is theft deterrent. Please call us with any other car rack technical questions at 800-426-4840.

Hello,  I have a 2007 Subaru Legacy Wagon 2.5T with factory rail system attached already. I just wanted to make sure that this base is going to fit and seeing what size I should get. I did not see it in the fit guide.  Thanks,  Mike

Asked by: mesposito95
According to Yakima's Fit Guide, this rail bar system is not compatible with a 2007 Subaru Legacy Wagon with flush siderails. The only Whispbar system in stock (as of December 2016) that will fit is the S15 Whispbar by Yakima Through Roof Bar. https://www.rei.com/product/835224/whispbar-by-yakima-through-roof-bar-pair You will also need the K325 SmartFoot Fitting Kit. https://www.rei.com/product/832285/whispbar-by-yakima-smartfoot-fitting-kit
