Sleek addition to new Subaru Wilderness
I have always preferred Yakima products, and have always been happy with their performance, longevity and Yakima's customer support. So, when I purchased my new Wilderness, I knew I wanted to stick to the brand given I still have many old school Yakima products that are still working great (cargo box, ski rack, kayak J & Hully rollers, etc.). Will need to upgrade the old mounts with the new crossbars, but love the sleek look of the Timberline and Jetstream crossbars, and also purchased and installed locks for security. They look awesome with my black trim package, and feel super sturdy. Easy to assemble and install by myself.

Curved bars?
I nearly purchased these but thankfully stopped by a brick and mortar first to check them out. The bars are arched, which is not listed anywhere in the description. Because they are arched, mounted bikes will tilt outwards a few degrees. There may be some customers who prefer this (or a good reason to do it for heavily loaded boxes) I’m awarding two stars for the fact that the product description doesn’t call out this very important detail.

Made me forget about my trusty round bars

Picked up a 2012 Toyota Sequoia and knew right away I needed something more solid to mount my Yakima boxes to. I watched the YouTube Timberline Towers install video twice before starting my install and several times during the install - way better than the written instructions. I paired the towers with a set of 60" JetStream crossbars. The video recommends two people but I only had myself so I did a lot of up and down and side to side getting everything just right. In the end, everything felt rock solid and I completed a 2000 mile ski trip with two boxes on top at speeds to 85 mph without any drama or wind noise. I do not plan on removing the bars - I like the way they look on the vehicle but will definitely remove the MPG robbing boxes when not in use.

Go for the T-Slot and flush mount accessories.

Just installed on a 2017 Honda Ridgeline with factory roof rails. The bottom slot allows the bars to fit flush mount on the Timberline Towers and frees the entire top T-Slot for flush mount accessories like my 1Up bike carrier. Superb quality system. I compared this to Rhino Bars and Thule and chose Yakima. Glad I did. Included a torque screw driver to tighten bolts. A nice touch.

Quiet, high quality bars. Fits any car width.

These bars are why I bought the Yakima system over the competitor systems. Slot on under side runs full length, allowing any width car. Unlike Thule designs that won't allow you to put 60" bars on a Volvo V90 CC wagon, these Yakima bars (and system) are much more flexible and will fit any width car. Also, very quiet on the road, 0 to 80 mph.

Big improvement

I am thrilled that Yakima finally went to oval bars. Attachments don’t roll over (even if you think you got them tight). This is especially true with my Yakima kayak holders that have rollers on the rear pair and loved to slip on the bar when loading the kayak. Reset, try again. Not with this bar. Of course buying this often means you need to pay big money for old attachments (mine go back as much as 4 decades) that only fit round bars. I fave been trying to sell the old stuff for more than a year but nobody want’s them.

Mercifully quiet. End cap fell out first trip.

Bought a pair of Jetstream crossbars for my Jeep GC Overland. They are mercifully quiet. Little confusing how to add components. Had trouble finding a way to mount old stuff until I found MightyMount 39H that fits carriage bolts from old round bar components. End cap fell out on my first trip. Know I put it in well with rubber hammer, but it did not stick. Try to order replacements from Yakima and they are out of stock. At least they were not expensive.

Works for me

Worked great for my road trip with a carrier box attached. No real noticeable noise even at high speeds.
