Rated 3 out of 5 by from Super comfy, not exactly black These are indeed very plush gloves--super comfortable inside, and the leather used for the palms and gauntlets is very soft. I wore them for the last day of ski season this weekend when the temperatures were in the 20s. They kept my hands comfortable, although my fingers got a little cold when clutching ski poles on the chairs. The pulls on the gauntlets are longer than I would like to have dangle while I ski. However, tucking them under the gauntlet elastic when pulled tight with the gloves on is not very easy. Also, although the gloves are described as black, the sueded leather used on the fingers and back is more like an indigo or deep navy color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really great gloves Been looking for a pair of gloves that gives me the same feel that I get with my old REI gloves. Most gloves are too squishy when you try to grip a ski pole, or they're too thin to be warm. These however, are great. The grip is comfortable, firm and natural. The extra long cuff, was perfect for holding off the wind and snow on this year's ski trip. Everyone else had cold fingers, but mine were comfortable, and had no need to even consider adding a heat pack to the convenient pocket on the backside of the glove. The size on the pair I bought, was Large, and they fit me perfectly, however I have small hands, for a guy, so you will want to "try before you buy".

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fair gloves, not warm enough for winter Sturdy, well made gloves that appear to be actually waterproof. When wet these gloves take a long time to dry. They are not windproof and not remotely warm enough for winter conditions. Not suitable for wintersports. My hands freeze on a 20 min bicycle commute at 0 C. Not an extreme temperature if you ask me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth your while I purchased these gloves this year after tearing the palm in my favorite pair of trigger mitts. This year I chose to buy a pair of gloves because I have begun back country skiing. I opted out of buying mitts, which I truly prefer, but felt the need to have fingers in order to properly grip and handle all of my equipment (buckles, zippers, tools/lunch the usual). I am happy with these gloves and their performance thus far this season. The grip is reasonable and what is expected from a glove, I quite enjoy the buckle/closure because the two strap system resembles my previous trigger mitts. They are easy to put under a sleeve which is how I prefer to ride. I especially like the pockets/zippers on the outside of the hand. When I placed a hand warmer in each hand for the trip down (temps were less than 15 degrees) I felt the warmth immediately. Likewise the zip came in handy today, literally this afternoon 12/23/12, when temps were above 30 and so I opened the zip to cool my hand and it lowered to a reasonable level. I don't want to give the impression they cooled off significantly, but it was nice to feel a change in the glove when I opened them up. I used to ride with a liner in my trigger mitts, but have not been riding with them this year. In my opinion these gloves are worth buying if you are looking for something functional and warm. I did find the price a bit discouraging, but with a 20% discount and the love of a rei gift card from a family member for a birthday I went for it. Finding a great pair of gloves can seem overwhelming because of the vast array of choices, but after getting hands on with these at rei I took a chance on 'em and have been satisified with their performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Gloves! As you may notice, I really like these gloves. I tried on many different glove designs by different manufacturers that just did not feel right or fit well. These gloves felt right in every way from the first time I put them on in the store. The price seemed high, but I wore them around some and eventually decided to make the purchase. I'm glad I did and will really appreciate the years of warm, dry comfort these gloves are sure to provide! They certainly work for me and might just be what you are looking for as well!

Can these gloves be placed in the dryer?

Asked by: J Baron
We do not recommend drying these gloves in the dryer. Air drying away from direct heat is the best way to dry these gloves.
