So I bought this to replace my older Do everything pack, that orginal intent was ice climbing/alpine it was 32 L and I could stuff a bit more. However I was able to stuff just as much in this pack but it was a tighter fit. The frame system is pretty flexible and helps carry load. I think 30 L is the main compartment. The way the lid is deigned with elastic it will stretch over pack when overloaded and you can even get one or two things on top. This will limit the space in lid, but I could still squeeze in some stuff. I did have to adjust straps so it sat lower on my torso while riding my bike so I'd have free head movement. For urban pack it's great for climbing outdoor pack it could have water bottle pockets and expandaple mesh or something. However I did tie up a 550 cord webbing to solve that. The only thing I could say is the ixe axe loops are two close together if your going to actually carry dual axes that may cause some issue as well as rigging up something to hold the handle. But as a grocercy getter hiking pack for under 100 it's worth it. Full price I don't think ti's a good deal. Overall I'm happy with it.
So I was buying this to replace my old 32L pack that was made for ice climbing, and I used for just about everything. I needed that pack to have a flexible frame so I could bike with it, and haul at least same abount of groceries. which it does. The little frame makes a diffrence and I was able to actually move around more than my older pack and newer straps felt better. I was able to fit 6 Liter water bottles in bottom, like 2 8oz cheese, 3 tasty bites, 2 instant rice, bag of walnuts, 3 premade salads, 2 cans of beans, one can olives, onc can of artichokes, package of naan, tortills, 2 chocolate bars, box strawberries, mushrooms, 2 large apples, and package of veggie chicken patties, field roast sausage, and bean and cheese burritos. Aldi was my grocery store minus few things. Outside I strapped on some frozen vegatables, and the compression straps for my bike lock. if it had expandable pocket on outside, or expandable water bottles I'd would gave it 5 stars. My only critisim is I think ice axe loops are too close to put dual ice axes on without some issue, and you'd need to rig something to hold handles. But this pack is made for urban adventure. Hence labtop sleeve. For under 100 it's ok, but full price I think other packs beat it for features.
Good all around pack. Important note though the pack does not have and internal frame. It is high density foam. I folded the backpack in every direction to make sure before I made this review. That being said, I love the way it hugs my back it is going to serve me well.
I am 6'1"" and this pack does not fit even with the shoulder straps fully extended. Most one-size packs fit me, but this one is abnormally small. Its a shame since it seems like a nice pack, which I will now have to return without ever using.
Nice solid pack. Replaced a 65 liter with this one after downsizing. Will make a great fastpacking pack. The only thing I would change is adding pockets on the sides for water. I use bottle holders on my pack straps so no problem.
