I finally wanted to transition away from just bringing a drawstring bag with me for hiking. I have only taken this on one hike but it was a game changer. I did an 8 mile hike and the 2.5L bladder was more than enough water for me. I was able to attach my hiking poles to my bag, pack lunch, a towel, and a first aid kit. Didn't nearly fill up my bag but this was great. I like that there are rungs on the outside of the pack where I was able to attach my dogs water dish. While I don't think this pack is big enough for an overnight camping trip, this was perfect for a long day hike.
I’ve been using this pack for a couple of years and I hate it. If you put anything in the inside mesh pocket the whole pack flops open when you unzip it. The side water bottle pockets are pretty much useless, even if you tighten the straps all the way there is a 100% chance whatever type of water bottle you use will fall out when you bend over. Only one side of the hipbelt has a zippered pocket which is annoying because it is very small (only big enough to hold a small snack).
Overall, I like this pack. I already own a Skimmer 28 and bought this for when I don't need a pack that large. It's comfortable and a good size for day hikes. It has plenty of room for storing layers and you can attach hiking poles. The side pockets are a nice size but need elastic at the top to keep small items from falling out. It's too easy to lose small items from the side pockets when you lay the pack horizontal because there's no zipper or elastic to secure contents. The water bladder fits nicely into the slot. It's not as tight as the slot on my older Skimmer 28, so easier to use. This pack has a different type of loop at the top to secure the bladder, which is much easier to use than the bladder clip on the older Skimmer 28. The 2.5 liter bladder that comes with the pack is a newer version with a slightly different closure at the top - it flips over in the opposite direction. It threw me off until I realized that. I've been using the pack for a couple of months and it's holding up well so far.
Plenty big enough for an all day hike…very comfortable to wear!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So comfortable and the hydration bladder is easy to take in and out. It’s a simple design, but it holds a lot.
