An excellent upgrade!

The original Ultraventure was an awesome shoe, but the second version was a miss imo. However, Topo stepped it up with the Ultraventure 3! Super cushy without feeling too far off the ground, great toe box, upper is comfy, and I'm able to lock down my heel and midfoot without it feeling tight. Topo seems to have adjusted the Ultraventure to be a mild-moderate terrain shoe, perhaps when the run transitions between pavement, gravel, and fairly non-technical trails. I've also worn it around town and on the treadmill and it's great. For more technical trails, the Mtn Racer will do better due to more aggressive lugs and a stickier outsole. A note that it runs about a quarter size larger than all my other Topos. I'm okay wearing my usual size and wouldn't want to size down, but it's something to keep in mind based on how you like your shoes to fit.

Loved the fit and grip of this shoe, but the rubber started delaminating from the top all around on both shoes before I had hiked 70 miles in them. Poor quality construction. Topos offered me 50% off my next shoe, but I don't want anything to do with this brand anymore. They don't stand behind their product.

No Break-in, Roomy Yet Snug

1st 3 mile hike no pain at all so did an 8 mile hike up & down hill on scree & road thru several trail & no pain. Both hikes with Injinji toe LINER socks. Since I gain weight I'm now in between a 7 and a 7.5 but 7.5 make me trip so hard to find the right 7 shoe size unless I wear liner socks no cushion. Then I wore them with regular Injinji toe socks & still so comfy. I even started running again & notice less stress on my joints! Heel strike is like I'm on a cloud actually hiking is like I'm on a cloud. Lug sticks great! They are wonderful, just need better colors! 7 med fit but when I tried the 7 wide SOOO much better... like I'm barefoot but with pillows under my feet. Thank you Topo! Please keep making them but with better colors that go with versatile outfits like gray or white color options please. 5'2 160

Happy feet...

I have temder feet, with wide tor box and narrow heals. am thoroughly happy with these shoes. The tread feels too substantial to comfortably wear on asphalt or sidewalks; i wear these exclusively on the trail. Appreciate the dark blue and would also love topo to make these in beige, sand, lavender.

No Support

So disappointed in these. I watched the video on the new design and was excited about the toe expansion. Alas, these shoes offered my narrow feet zero support. I’m an avid hiker, and I twisted my ankle numerous times. My foot was all over the place in this shoe. There is also too much space between the top of my toes and the shoe, so the tendon of my big toes suffered. I love the look of them and maybe they work for people with wider feet. Luckily, I was able to return them at REÍ, and I know they will be resold. Even the box will be re-used. Love REÍ. I won’t be returning to this brand though.

Great for long distance in variety of terrain

These shoes were perfect for 2 weeks/150+ miles on the Camino. Whether it was a flat dirt trail, mountainous terrain, downhill with loose rocks, or paved road, they did a great job of keeping me stable. The only time my feet hurt were after really long days walking 14+ miles. I added a super feet insole which made them more comfortable. The wide toe box is great. Very happy with Topo! I just wish REI would carry them in store so I could try on more styles.

A decent substitute for Altra’s

I was an avid Altra fan prior to purchasing the Topo’s, but switched due to the Altra’s wearing out so quickly. It was a great substitute since they also have the roomy toe box and the narrow heel area and they were comfortable right out of the box. I am on my feet 8 hours a day on concrete floors so comfort is important to me. With the Vibram soles, they would also work for hiking.

Comfortable, but minimal forefoot cushion

This shoe looks great, very breathable and fits well on my narrow foot with bunions. Nice roomy toe box, as Topo Athletic is known for. Very comfortable shoe, but lacks enough cushion in the forefoot for my bony bunions. The shoe is also very flexible at the forefoot, which allows for a lot of flex at the ball of the foot. Might be great for someone with better feet than mine!
