These are literally the comfiest sneakers I have ever worn. I haven’t trail ran or hiked in them but my job requires me to be on my feet walking most of the day (12 hour shift) and these do not disappoint.

Great for road running & milder trails

I switched to Topo after another brand shoe soles completely fell apart on me. I really like the Mtn Racer version for more technical/rough trails and hiking, but they are not as cushioned as I would like. I have hx of surgery & osteoarthritis & wear custom orthotics. So I wanted to try the Ultraventure version too. The 5mm drop is good for me (not too much, but not zero which my foot can't manage). These are more cushioned/comfortable than the Mtn Racers although the obvious downside is they are not as rugged, esp. the soles. That being said, I have used the Ultraventure 4 now for mostly road running and gym/treadmill/general gym activity. They are holding up well so far, but I would not use these for off-trail or more rugged trail hiking/running. Wish the Mtn Racer ruggedness could be more cushioned like the Ultraventure & that would be a perfect combo! Please don't ever mess with the tongue on these!

arch too high for flat feet

The arch was a little uncomfortable (too high) for my flat feet and the color was a little boring, so I returned them. Size was spot on (women's 6) and the toe box was very comfortable.

Comfort but not durability
I’ve had two pair of these now and they are so comfy - I Love them… but both pair have torn on the inner top. I’ve only had each pair under two months. An REI mngr told me that they are only 300 mile shoes, so they are not made to last longer like maybe Merril but I’ve had those and the comfort level just doesn’t compare. Comfort should be 5 Stars but durability is just not there.

Heel rub
No, I do not recommend this product
I loved last year's model but this year rubs my heel and causes blisters. Bummer! I thought I'd found the perfect trailrunning shoe.
