Didn’t impress me
I have a wool winter Tilley hat (that I also got from REI on sale!) that I really like, but I liked the idea of a chin strap for extra protection against losing my hat in a gust of wind while hiking, so I ordered it sight unseen online. I was disappointed when I opened the box and examined the hat. This hat seemed considerably less substantial than the hat I already had. The plastic hook on a ribbon to adjust the sizing (a lot!) and the very small plastic clips that connected the thin removable chin strap just seemed cheap and fragile and didn’t inspire confidence. It was a quick decision to take it back. It might be good for others, especially those who aren’t planning to wear it on long hikes in the woods, but it wasn’t for for me.
Versatile, warm, well-made
This is a great hat. It seems to be very well made, and it looks really nice. the sunglass holder is a great feature. I’m using it for boating and rowing, as well as contemplatively sitting on the porch while surrounded by nature’s sounds, delicate tendrils of tobacco smoke, and the lovely aroma coming of my whiskey. Seriously though, this hat is great. I’ve now purchased four hats from this company, two for me, one for my wife, and one for my daughter. They have all been fantastic. This one might be my favorite.
Sturdy and well made
This hat is wonderful. I bought it for my husband. Here are some things appreciated about it. It has a size adjusting feature inside to more micro size it. It is warm and appears to sturdy and be well made. The brim to my measure is 2-1/4" in width, good for protecting sensitive eyes from the sun. He likes the style of it as well.
Nice hat
I bought this on another website, as they had a sale. I was looking from a wool or wool blend hat with a brim that came in a Large. One size sizing for these type of hats for women don’t fit my head. I measure the top of the medium sizing, but prefer a looser hat, otherwise I get a crease in the middle of my forehead that is seen after removing the hat. This hat is nice and roomy for me in the rear of the hat, but the front is more snug, but not so much it creases my forehead. It’s a nice weight, has removable chin straps, a hidden “key” pocket inside the top of the hat, and looks really nice. I’d love to see drop down ear flaps on the hat for extra warmth. it’s a nice hat. It is packable, but not crushable.
Well-made & Clever Outdoor Tool !
This isnt my normal style, but I gotta' say its a great hat! The adjustable sizing is well-designed, as are both the sunglass-sleeve & drawstring [removeable!].
Best winter hiking hat ever
This is just simply a great hat -- beautifully designed, sturdy and well-made. Extremely comfortable on, with a nice deep brim to protect the face, ears, and neck. Things you might find on other hats (chin strap, sunglasses holder) are exquisitely designed on this one, and everything works perfectly. Bought it as a winter hiking hat, and I'm thrilled with it!
Let It Rain
Another great hat from Sun Day Afternoons. So nice I bought two, black and grey. The sizing adjustment system is ingenious and the removable chin strap is a winner (chin straps always in the way unless the wind is blowing) and stores in the pocket in the top of the hat. Nice way to stay warm and dry on a rainy day.
A Favorite Hat of Mine
In colder weather, I use this warm hat for daily walking, around town and playing golf. The chin strap is very helpful on breezy days and there are two slots around the brim to hold sun glasses. The grey heather color blends well with nicer attire, too.
Just As Described - very happy with this hat
This hat quickly became a new favorite, perfect for chilly morning walks and for around town to make a more stylish impression than a bucket hat or baseball cap. With so much hype in our feeds nowadays, it's great to have a true/accurate description of a product rather than a whole rigmarole about how a new purchase is going to empower you to achieve enlightened selfhood. It's a winter fedora, with some hiking conveniences. Period. Not for extreme conditions, not for saving the world, just a wool blend fedora to keep you warm and dry. That's enough to expect. It will be appropriate for occasions like a cemetery, not to be maudlin, yet it's far from formal or mourning-wear. A friend paid me a nice compliment: it has a hint of Indiana Jones without looking like you're _trying_ to be Indiana Jones. I take a 7 3/4 usually, depending on hairstyle, and this one in large fits well with no adjusting the tabs. One criticism is that the trim/piping on the brim where it meets the back seam could have been a little more neatly finished, but overall construction is very good.
Great hat
Great hat. Fits great. Looks good. Stays on in winds even without the chin strap. I sprayed it with silicon water proofing upon arrival. I wear it every day. The dogs learned if I reach for the hat they are going out.
