I tried these on in store and found them very comfortable, but wore them only one day (a float trip) before noticing that the clasp that holds the heel strap is bending open. It appears to be made of weak metal. I reached out to Astral's customer service but haven't had a response in days. I guess I'll be returning them.

I've spent some time on the river with various footwear and these have been great sandals whether wet or dry. The non slip soles are almost 100% dependable. But what I like the most about these sandals is the flat foot design. I love to wear Birkenstocks and have for years. These sandals felt strange at first but after wearing them as my primary footwear for months, I notice the my foot feels a bit confined now in my Birkenstocks. The muscles in my feet seem to have relaxed and strengthened at the same time. These sandals are definitely my new favorite as I was able to raft and hike all over the grand canyon for 16 days with no other footwear.

Let me preface this with I'm always hesitant about how an open toe sandal is going to hold up to my lifestyle. I was PLEASANTLY surprised at how these sandals have quickly become my every day shoe. I've pressure tested these babies in as many ways as you can. Imagine a sandal that allows you to sprint through Chicago public transit at full speed, trying to catch your 7 AM flight the morning after your best friends wedding that also allows you to peacefully swim class 4 rapids! Sounds impossible, right? WRONG. As someone who's done both of these things, I can say this sandal is up for the task. It's also a great sandal for walking my dog around the river! He loves to pull us across rocks, and the grip I have while frolicking across wet stones is almost unbelievable.

Been wearing the Astral PFD sandal for a week straight and love them. Im a 12.5 and the size 13 fits me perfectly. First thing I noticed was the exceptional comfort and high quality construction. Been wearing them at work and also in my canoe. The grip on wet rocks is INSANE. These are high performance water sandals that look good in town too!!

These sandals are like a pricey German car -- great as long as you are willing to deal with the quirks and issues. The issues: I had to order two sizes up because the footbed pushes the foot too far forward in the correct size; also what to do with the overhanging straps, two of which reach to the ground (?), and getting in and out of these is not quick and simple -- not as simple as the usual velcro strap in the usual sandal for easy on and off. The good news, like a fine German car -- great ride, snug and tight, very comfortable, great lines and good looking. In short, it just depends how much you want to deal with. I'm keeping mine.

Needs improvement. I’m a half size so I ordered up. Even going bigger the sandal was a tight fit. The mesh on the top of the foot should be able to stretch so I can fit my foot. I couldn’t even secure the back strap. I ended up cutting a slit in the top to allow them to fit properly

After using other Astral products, I got these to use for a little bit of everything. Some canoeing, rafting, light hiking and use around town. They've been great. Perhaps the most comfortable sandal ever. Astral's zero drop chassis and lightweight and water friendly design perform perfectly. The G Rubber grip is what ya like (and need!) on wet rocks. Some reviews have complained about the footbed grip, but I've felt the star-like texture and toe ridge have been very comfortable and super helpful when scaling steep slopes, river banks and trails. Extra kuddos for the ability to hook the back strap into itself and become a slide! And extra extra kuddos to Astral for making something lighter than Chaco with NO foot gunk build up on the insole!! Awesome river sandals. Super comfortable with great grip and also easy adjustable. From suping to rafting, these will protect your feet for any river activity.
