Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware of defective stitching Stitching around elastic heel section came completely loose on both sandals first day of wading creeks in Utah slick rock area. Had to make a field repair to keep going. Emailed Keen with pictures expressing concerns, they finally responded to my second email stating they would consider a refund when I had stated in the email I already had a refund. They did not respond to investigating the defective stitching. I have seen the same defective stitching on the same sandal at various stores. I don't think their concern or market really includes rugged environments. I would recommend avoiding this product unless application is very light duty.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Excellent concept, poorly constructed I purchased my first pair of Newport H2O's in May and used them for saltwater flats fishing, the stiching failed on the heel strap area after just a couple of trips. I had a Boundary Waters canoe trip planned for August and exchanged the damaged pair for a new set at the Minneapolis REI, the sales rep informed me this is a common problem and returns occur frequently. I took my second set of H2O's on my trip, and the stiching in the same heel area failed within the first 2 days. I plan to return them and will look for another water sandal. I have the leather Keen sandal and it has held up well, it is just slow to dry, heavier and is not the ideal water shoe.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Stitching as a recurring problem Pros: comfortable, good traction, multi-use, great with or without socks, easily washed in the shower, and quick-drying. So why two stars? Well: like at least two other reviewers, the side stitching came loose, and this was within ONE MONTH of purchasing, and without any extreme activity. In fact, the most "extreme" was a hike up a volcano in Bali, but this one event is not something that I would expect would put the sandals through a real challenge let alone make them start coming apart. I did get a replacement pair at REI but I sincerely hope Keen improves their quality; at this point when I go to purchase additional footwear I'm going to stay away from Keen. So while I would recommend these to folks, I would do so with the above caveats.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I bought these sandals for a two week river trip down the Grand Canyon. By day 5 they were starting to fall apart. You can imagine my disappointment especially when I had 9 more days on the river. The seams by the ankles were coming undone. Fortunately, one of the guides had something I could sew the sandals back together with. I sent an email to Keen and never heard anything back. Fortunately I was able to return them at REI.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels like they were made for my feet. I'm picky about my hiking clothes, so I spent more than an hour trying on various brands and models. The H2s run just a bit large, so you may have to buy a half size smaller. I wear a size 10 shoe, and the 9.5 H2s fit me best. The 10s rubbed on my heels. The 9.5s fit as if I grew them onto my feet! That said, it takes an extra second or two to get them on. But it's well worth it, as the fit is so great. I am comfortable running, walking, hiking trails, and inching down steep terrain. These are sturdy. Rugged on the outside, but soft inside the straps. Time will tell if they last long. But for now, I could not be more happy with these sandals.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very good sandals, BUT... These sandals worked great as hiking shoe replacements on hot days when I wanted the foot the breath. They've also been very durable, with the soles showing very little wear over the years. They are a bit bulky, but you should immediately notice this when you see them in person. The BIGGEST complaint I have with these shoes is the total lack of traction when the surface is wet. I'm not talking about walking over flowing water, just wet surfaces after a rain storm. I've slipped while walking down an aluminum boat ramp after a rain. Check out the review of this boat on [@], the general feedback is not good due to the lack of traction when wet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality not what used to be I have a pair of Keen Sandles I bought almost 8 years ago and they are in better shape than the ones I bought last year. I thought that I might off just purchased a bad pair, however I had also bought a pair for my retired father and his were in the same shape. Since then I've noticed that the glue holding the layers of the sole are sepparate. Go to a used gear sale and you will see plenty with this problem. It really is to bad this was a good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for summer trashing about Got these as a present for no special occasion. Wife picked them up and she got the navy blue ones for me. They run true to size (i wear a 10) and wow are they comfortable. I've never had high-quality outdoor trekking sandals like these. Previous I had cheapie knock-offs from the big box stores figuring they would be fine. Wow was I wrong! As soon as I slipped these on, I could tell they had that legendary Keen fit and comfort. I have gone on several long trail hikes over to streams and lakes. I don't take them off! I actually like swimming in them better because I don't have to worry about cutting my feet on a nail, sharp rock, or a piece of glass.

So many negative reviews about these sandals falling apart. Has Keen gotten their act together in the last few years to make this expensive product be more reliable???

Asked by: Gary101
Nope. Same fall apart flaw recently with me. Didn't notice stitching below ankles coming astray until pulling a canoe out of a river. Snarky you're - on - your - own response from Europe Keen distributor. Will never buy Keen again.
