Just picked one of these up on the way out to Lassen for a crispy weekend under the stars. I've always had a trad design bag, and I bought it on a whim thinking I would probably go crawling back to my old Nemo bag. NEVER GOING BACK. The side zip design gave me the most comfortable sleeping experience I think I've ever had in a tent. The foot box gave me all the extra room I always want in a bag. I was honestly blown away by how much of a difference these little updates really made. I tried to suggest sleeping in it once we got home, but my partner shot me down. Oh well. Can't wait to get back out again. Marmot is impressing me a lot these days!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent bag very comfortable good trade-off for comfort and Weight. Recently did a overnight camping didn’t realize it was gonna snow temperature dropped to 12°F. Didn’t even notice the temperature drop.
My last bag was losing feathers after the better part of a decade and I needed a new quick before heading to Joshua Tree. The team at the San Carlos store recommended the Sawtooth and they were right. Just got back today and this bag was super warm even for January but wasn't some down filled coffin like I was used to but instead was super comfortable. I run a little warm fyi but this bag had great ventilation. I also have feet like a sasquatch so I definitely appreciated the extra room in the foot box. The wife loved the colors of the bag which is so much the better.
Very light weight cold weather bag that has half zips on both sides. Get to warm, roll it down. Nice and fluffy loft. Goose down, I love that. You know what I really love- the expandable foot box. I hike into a camp in all seasons. I put my boots in a trash bag at the foot of my bag. I don't heat my tent ever so if I did not heat my boots with my body and stepped into boots that sat in below zero temps that is just begging for frostbite. Now I have a place for my boots and my toes! Not to mention its good looking too.
Great bag, very comfortable and I love the expandable footbox. Packs down well and lofts back up after as normal. Fully vented was comfortable on a warmer night so it may be the one bag for it all, we'll see. Any warmer and I'd go just my bag liner anyway. Knocking off one star because I believe that in the long version the zippers should reach down further. I don't know what the length/zipper placement ratio is of the normal bag but it's a bit of a pretzel scooch to get into this as a tall man. Feels like the bag is longer but not the zippers; longer would make entry/exit easier. Inside pocket is also convenient, but surprisingly small.
Just got it and I've only tried this bag once so far and that was indoors. Well, sort of—unheated cabin probably 30s inside at night. I was hot (slept in baselayers) and tried the side zips and flappy things to adjust the temperature. The flaps help cover the space where the zipper is open so you get better control over cold air coming in. Good solution to the too-hot or too-cold sleeping bag problem.
Loved the material and loft of this sleeping bag, super high quality. But it had one fatal flaw- the zipper only goes halfway down the bag. So in order to get out of the bag, I had to slide my my entire body out, like taking off a giant onesie. I'm tall, and the bag only unzipping to my waist was completely dysfunctional, not to mention mildly claustrophobic. Shame, but had to return it.
Kept me warm and comfortable thru my trip. Silky smooth. Zippers work good. The loft if super fluffy. The bag is light weight and compress down good. For the price point I'd say best bang for buck.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great sleeping bag. I have used it on two backpacking trips so far. The first night it was around 40° I was plenty warm. The second trip I spent four nights using this bag. The temps were in the low fifties, the ability two be able to unzip both sides was perfect and I did not overheat. Marmot went above and beyond in customer service. I originally ordered the smaller bag by accident they gave me a RMA immediately and sent me a new large bag and shipped it before they even received the first bag at no extra cost! I have owned a number of Marmot gear over the years but this just sealed the deal for me. High quality, excellent service, and fair prices. Hard to go Wrong.
This bag replaced by old faithful down bag that I've been carrying with me for the last 8 years. After sleeping in it last weekend, I'm impressed with how much more space the expanded foot box offers. That paired with the duel zips made for a very comfortable sleep. A huge upgrade from my last bag.
