Bright, long-lasting, good beam
The only reason the SECA Comp gets 4 stars is due a coil whine (high-pitched electrical noise) at 15.5 kHz. At high speeds the wind noise drowns out the coil whine, but it is annoying at lower speeds. In general people 40+, and many younger, can't hear this high of frequency. So if you can't hear 15.5 kHz it won't be a problem for you! I feel comfortable with this light riding forest/gravel roads at night, and combined with a ~1000 lumen helmet light this is great for mountain biking at night--I'm planning on using the Seca Comp 2000 as my main light for a 24 hour MTB race this summer! The battery life is as-advertised, lasting 4+ hours with a mixture of brightnesses. Note that the light will likely rotate on you in rough terrain (ex. washboard gavel) if you cinch it to a bare bar. Use the included grip tape on your bar (or something like electrical tape) before cinching the strap to provide better grip and avoid rotation.
Cold Weather Riders Stay Away
I have 2 different Light and Motion Tax (now Seca) lights. In warm weather riding, they work well. Decent battery life, super bright. However in cold weather, they are unreliable. I can have them fully charged at home, but get out for a ride in the cold, and the battery indicators show they are dead. I get them home and warm them up, and they light right up, battery indicators show full strength. I've had this happen with both lights on many occasions. Super disappointing. I live in Wisconsin, and ride year round, and need a light that works in all seasons. Light and Motion lights unfortunately aren't it. For the money I paid, I expected more. When I reached out to Light and Motion, they told me they were aware of the problem in cold weather, but would not offer any help.
Great Little Light
This little light is so bright and compact. I love it. It shines a bright side beam and is adjustable for commuting in town or hitting the trails. I like that there are no extra parts to lose. The battery and the handlebar strap is contained in the light itself so easy to move from bike to bike and no parts to keep track of.
SECA COMP IS A GREAT LIGHT
This 2000 lumen beam makes all the difference. The light is so well designed, which I appreciate compared to the others I considered. The mount is also rock solid. I'm a big fan of Light & Motion.
Bomber light for every possible cycling purpose
I used the SECA COMP 2000 several times both on and off road and in conditions with varying amounts of light. Regardless of the trail or condition, I was impressed by several aspects of the light, such as: - It stays put. Many lights I've had in the past jostle a little when you ride on the trail. The thick, durable strap that fastens this light to your bike is made of a soft rubber that grips your bars and ensures it doesn't budge even when you hit the rough stuff. - It is consistent. I don't think I've ever encountered a light that didn't gradually dim as you used up the charge or the battery. This light was as bright at the beginning of a ride as it was at the end four hours later. I even neglected to recharge it and used it again on a road ride and it performed as though it had a fresh charge. - It is powerful. Holy cow is this thing bright. A fellow rider riding far ahead of me told me they could see my light clearly the entire time, both in the shade and in the sunlight. - It is versatile. I simply cannot imagine needing more brightness or light options than this light provides as it covers all the bases: a full, spotlight-like beam right down to a low, blinking light that is perfect when there's more light in the sky or when you want the charge to last longer. Even this low-power beam was plenty bright for my needs. This is a fantastic light and covered all of my needs, whether I was on the road or on the trail. I didn't encounter any drawbacks, though I will leave readers with an insider tip: unlocking the lockout feature only works when the light isn't charging. This is a mistake I made, thinking I could unlock it while it was still connected. Once you unplug it, unlocking it works exactly as indicated. Overall, this is a great product that I'd recommend to anyone!
Brilliant purchase
Super bright. Almost as bright as a one car headlight. Holds charge very well.
Super bright, super easy to use, simply awesome.
I first had a hard time figuring out how to use the light, but after reading the instructions it is super simple... I was overcomplicating things. It very easily grips on my bars and stays in place through pretty much any ride. I have even taken it off my bike to use when I take the dog out at night! This light is bright enough even on its lowest setting to light the trails/road/path for hours. This light rocks!
Night Trail rider
New to light riding, but so far light is bright and has been great on the trail.
