I work for the U.S. Forest Service and we use these for winter work in Colorado. Almost every liftee, lift mech, patroller, instructor and groomer use these, they're standard issue for Mtn Ops. All these delicate people whining that they're "Hestras" probably ski in jeans

Heavy Duty Gloves

These gloves appear to be heavy duty and are lined for use during the fall and winter seasons. I purchased them during a spring sale, so I have not used them. The only size available was an XL which I would ordinarily have ordered because my experience with most gloves is that they run small. These, however, run on the large size so they are rather roomy. Nonetheless, I will be keeping them even though they are a little oversized for me. The gloves include a packet of Nikwax leather care, so these gloves will require regular leather treatments to keep them soft, supple, and waterproof. These gloves are made in China. It's unfortunate that REI does not carry more products manufactured in the USA.

Warm, but not actually durable

While these gloves are warm and seem pretty durable, they aren't actually durable. I got these to work a trail building job in the Rockies and within 3 weeks the patches on the fingers were coming off. The stitching just started falling apart. Kinco says these patches "reinforce the high-wear areas of the glove to ensure this workhorse will stand up to heavy abuse," but they failed after only a few weeks of moderate use. The palm and thumb patches have stayed on, but the stitching is fraying quite a bit, so I doubt they'll last much longer. The non-patch leather is also wearing very quickly on the inside of the hand. The back side of the gloves are great. It's too bad, because if they were truly durable they would be a great winter work glove. I always wear XL gloves, and while these are a bit bulky, they are comfortable and fine to use gripping larger objects. Don't expect to do any finesse work with these though; there's too much material for delicate hand/finger work. Also, REI up-charges a good bit -- these retail for $54 on the Kinco website.

These are crazy thick

Bought these as a gift for my husband. He requested thin leather gloves for hiking. I obviously didn't spend enough time reading the description b/c these are very thick! (oops!) They are really high-quality and will take some time to break-in. He won't use them for the intended purpose, but I think they will last forever and be amazing for working out in cold temps.

High quality, run large

These things will keep you warm, dry and probably last a lifetime, but the size chart is a bit off. According to the chart, I sit in between a medium and a large, I ordered a medium and they're still huge. They should break in and feel better as the leather forms to my hands, but right now they're like Mario gloves.

Very durable and warm!

These gloves are very heavy duty and keep my hands warm all day on the farm despite below freezing temperatures. They have even withstood getting tossed around and chewed by our guardian dog puppy! 10/10 would recommend these gloves for winter work.

Big fit that seems of darn good quality

These are heavy-duty cold weather work gloves that seem like top quality. I ended up giving these as a gift because they fit much larger than expected. I used the measurement guide and still came up short (that’s the only reason for missing the 5th star). Oh well. I’d buy these for myself in a heartbeat if I see them again at a similar price.

Very Tough Glove, but Stiff. Warm.

I bought these gloves for local winter hikes where I need tough leather gloves to deal with nasty thorns. They should also be good for heavy outdoor work. Other than that, the thick leather is overkill. After applying the NikWax conditioner that comes with them and working the fingers a lot to break them in, they're still too stiff to make a fist. After more extended use they'll likely be more flexible, but I've only worn them once so far. At age 65 my fingers get cold more easily, but these gloves were warm enough for my hike at 25f after I started generating some heat. As for fit, my hand circumference is 8.5" and wrist to tip of middle finger is 7.5. My hand & fingers are relatively thick & short rather than long & slender. Reviews said these run large, so I went with Medium. These are snug on me -- not uncomfortably tight, but I would not be able to wear even the thinnest liner gloves with them. As usual for me, the fingers are longer than needed. Well made gloves that should last a long time, made to withstand sharp objects and heavy work.

Great work gloves for the cold!

These are some serious gloves. If you need to do any outdoor work in the cold, they're amazing. I haven't used for skiing, but I imagine they would be perfect there too. Initially they were kind of stiff, but broke in nicely after I used them for a while.
